Firefly never scored higher than fourth from the bottom of FOX's prime-time lineup -- three times it was at the bottom. It was an expensive show (US38Megabucks for fourteen eps), and FOX had to give back a lot of the ad revenue because it didn't draw their guaranteed minimum audience numbers.

Firefly was too good for TV.

Keep the Shiny Side Up . . .

All they wanted was a goofy "shoot-em-up" action show, the more cleavage the better. What they got was a thoughtful, well-acted character driven action-comedy, and they didn't know what to do with it, so they cancelled it prematurely. NICE GOING PINHEADS ! !

fox had to cancel it as soon as they saw how good it was. can you imagine how bad the ratings would get for all the "reality tv" or the other crap they play if they started airing well writen/acted shows?? remember in high school when you always tried for a c? if you do really good one time, people will expect you to do good again. there just aren't that many good tv show writers out there.
i can't believe that they would be dumb enough to cancel it for any other reason.

Hey, guys! I was brought into the 'Verse shortly before Serenity hit theatres last fall (my friends insisted I watch all 15 episodes in the two days before it opened), and I finally bought both Firefly Season 1 and Serenity on DVD today. Why it took me so long, I don't know. I guess I wanted to wait till it was on sale or something (which it was).

Anyway, the point I'm trying to get at is that I'm hooked, and even if there's no more in the future, it's good to feel like I'm a part of something, even if I was a tag-along.

Why is Firefly important.

'Cause, as Mr. Whendon pionted out: the Fans. or the power of the fans.

They've spread the word using four litte DVD discs, and within THREE years of it being cancelled, there was a movie. (Trekkies had to wait TEN years for one).

THese fans don't let up. THe eat, sleep, breath and talk Firefly. Wanna know something: the first thing we'll give aliens after first contact is a Firefly Box set.

Also: don't be suprised if 100 years time, the word "shiny" has replaced cool in the english launguage.

WHY!!! 'cause the fans will make it happen...

We are the Browncoats, this is our 'verse and Joss Whedon is our new god (after our God(s) of course)

Firefly matters, because we make it matter.

"And I think calling him that is an insult to the psychotic lowlife community."

My friend lent me a bunch of dvd's because we just moved half way across the United States and have no tv yet. The last of the dvd's were a set and I noticed they were a tv series. In my past, I've watched other tv series's and have not been too impressed, so my first reaction was to set them on top of my monitor and go outside and play in the yard, lol. Well, I got bored, one thing led to another and before you know it, I had watched all 15 episodes, searched each disc for extra footage, and finally broke down and asked my friend for more.

Much to my suprise, my friend did have more...an actual movie simply called "Serenity". With that watched I began going crazy searching a disc once more for extra footage (which I greatfully found), and now I want...no, I NEED more. Joss, for real man, we need to know, as fans of FireFly, Serenity, The entire crew, and of course, You, Joss, what do we have to do to get you making more shows, movies, heck, even plays, of this unbelievable, breath taking, captivating, and more often than not, funny series. I'm for real, do you need cameras, a set, we know you need cash, Lights, I think its safe to say the actors will be happy to make an encore,....Man, what do you need, withdrawl sux and its just begun...Please don't leave us hangin. Serenity was kewl, and I totally get that it was your hearts work that made it come out so quickly for your hungry, loving fans, but I think fan must work if he/ she is to eat. Make a site, let folks know what you need, if all you need is cash, consider this, you need a camera, I bet it can be bough off ebay cheaper than some hollywood store. Get my drift, Let us know what is needed, we will pull through. We want Fire Fly back, for real.

Ok, someone please criticise me on how stupid this idea truely is. Its 4:24Am on Mon May 29th...I'm tired, rambling and just got done watching Serenity. Scuze the spelling, I hope ya'll can make out what i'm trying to say here, lol

Morning: Ep 1 - 5
Afternoon: Ep 6 - 10
Night: Ep 11 - 15
also Night: Serenity

"I'm tired" - me

Can't criticize you my friend, because you have said many of the same things we ALL have said.
We are all just as in love with this show as you are.

Welcome home...this is the place...where you will always be understood and where everything you say will be echoed.

We've all written about and searched for ways to bring the show back and we've all said we'd contribute our own cash. Unfortunately at this point, that's not going to work. What is going to work is recruiting new folks that feel the same way that we do. Our numbers have to grow and grow in order for the powers that be to take notice of our wants. It's as simple as that.

First off, you're a Browncoat by virtue of your love for the 'verse and every Browncoat needs their own browncoat...

*hands Warrensethers a browncoat fresh from the storeroom*

There you've got your gear. We're glad you're with us.

Take a look around the site, there's been much discussion of action to get our 'verse back by doing something now and thru the summer. So we've come up with several approaches and we hope you'll join us. Check out the Browncoat Events Forum panel to the right on the front page. Click around in there and you'll see there are listings for several different events coming up.
It's gonna take all of us together doing this with all our hearts to make them see that we want more. I'm dedicated to it, I hope you will be too.
Also, this is a really fun and smart site.. enjoy yourself.. our ships the best.

If you have any questions you can email me or PM me at any time. I'll be happy to do my best to answer them for you. My email is followmal@gmail.com.

Well, I have already signed the petition..pushing 2000 when I signed give or take a few. Should be more like 2,000,000 but thats ok, in time.

I hate to say it, but I seriously doubt that FOX will run the show. See, not only is FireFly a good show, but its a decent show. Meaning that a teenager could watch it without being corrupted, unlike what they're airing now. We're on the edge of a new Tv Era. All through the 90's, folks wanted to see cops chasing the bad guy, or family fighting with one another. Its no wonder the world is going the way it is, especially the US. People don't idolize the cops in cops, they idolize the chase, the drop, the capture, They think the chase would be fun. Since COPS aired, I heard police chases jumped to an all time high.

FireFly is good programing but it doesn't allow people to re-enact what they see. Given time, lots of people will watch because it is good programing, but it takes just a minute to understand. I guess people are getting sick of using their immaginations and are definately getting sick of thinking for themselves.

FOX doesn't like to air decent programming unless its mandatory, like childrens programming...when they have to.

A new channel is born every day. A new station for viewers to watch. If SCIFI doesn't want the show, then i'm sure there is at least one FireFly fan who is able or has the want to get a Broadcasting station going. Why are we so limited to one SCIFI channel. I whish I Joss could hear me, because I'd ask him to take a look at Ted Turner. I think Joss could make his own station and add FireFly to it. He'd definately be able to fill it with plenty of programming.

Just my thoughts. I would love to know if someone has run this idea past Mr. Whedon and/or if he has possibly contemplated this Idea.

Thanks

The end of serenity left a lot of room for yet another Series.
