Hi all,
I went to this live magic/hypnotist show, Derren Brown (check him out, he's brilliant btw) last night in Hammersmith, London and I saw none other than Wash there!
I couldn't believe it as a friend and I were just watching Serenity before we went. I was too shy to go up and speak to him but it was so surreal. He was with with a group of English and American people just a few rows from me but only a few people in the audience around him noticed who he was.
To top it all, when i was walking back to the station, he was walking behind me! He must've thought I was wierd cos I kept looking back. From what I could tell, he was on holiday visiting a friend and he was asking him about the area of London he was in. I think I was more excited about seeing him than the show, it was so cool. I just wished that I had the bottle to go and speak to him/get his autograph.
Oh, and I'm pretty sure I saw him have a crafty cigarette too!

Awww, cp, I LOVE this! Thanks so much, mate, for posting the BDH sighting for us. Gods, you're a lucky one! Love that you may have seen him light a crafty cig. Wouldn't be surprised, and I think that's so cool that he would.
Luck and love to ya, cp. You be careful out there among the English.

Awesome!
And you saw Warren Brown, too - he rocks! I saw a few of his videos, very impressive, and you learn a lot about how people's minds work. Hm, maybe he just hypnotized you into thinking you're seeing Alan. That man is scary. Warren, I mean. Alan... not so much.
And in situations like that, I guess it's almost always okay to say something like "Good evening, Mr. Tudyk. I love your stuff, especially in Firefly. Well, pardon my intrusion and have a nice stay in London! Tah-tah.". You know, something short that doesn't try to start a conversation, but is a nice little compliment. If he's in the mood to talk to you, he probably will, seeing that you're not one of the crazier fans, and if he doesn't, he'll just go "Well, thanks!" and the two of you will be on your merry again and both keep your dignity.
I call it a drive-by compliment.
Although you're not supposed to run away at top speed after the compliment, making screeching wheels noises - that might make it somewhat weird.
Nathan wants fans who recognise him on the street to just go "Capt'n..." as they pass him by. Can't wait to do that.
And it's way shinier to have the memory of such a cool moment with him than having an autograph you had to bother him for.
Btw, you were apparently wearing nothing that would identify you as a Browncoat. Disappointing... I'm gonna have to give you an Independent flag forehead tattoo while you're out.
P.S.: A "crafty cig"? Is that what I think it is? You Brits and your whacky lingo...

Cool!
Well hey, the poor guy was sitting in that big audience not being recognised! I bet he felt terrible :P
It would have been for *his* benifit as much as yours to have gone up and say "hello"!Let the poor guy know he's been recognised so he can have that warm fuzzy feeling inside :)
Oh, and I'm sure it would have made him feel good to sign a bunch of autograhps for you, wait while you ran to the nearsest shop to purchase a disposible camera and a pair of plastic dinosaurs, and allow you to take pictures while he re-enacts the "this land" secene from the pilot :D

Warren Brown? The dude's name is Derren Brown and he's huge in the UK! Not sure about anywhere else but he did a programme in the U.S. were he completely fooled people into thinking he was a faith-healer and pyschic.
I've only just gotten into Firefly after watching Serenity about a month ago - cant get enough of it, so to see Alan Tudyk was tres cool. In hindsight I wish I went up to speak but to be fair, i did keep close tabs on him! At least if there's ever a next time I know what to do. If anyone sees him at a convention anytime soon, ask him if he enjoyed the show...I'm pretty sure a few people who recognised him went up to him. Part of me even thinks the group he was had some fans, but again, I cant be sure.
And when I say "crafty cig", yeah, it seemed like he was sneakily smoking. He looked in good shap though, like he's worked out!

Thanks Itsawash. Ask him about the 'fascinated' trick - trust me, he'll know what you mean.
The reason I say he looked like he's worked out is because I recently saw the commentary episode he did for 'War Stories' and he kept mentioning how he had a big lunch in his shirtless scenes! Also, the guy's a lot taller in real-life, he looks small on the show so I was quite surprised about his height. I guess Nathan and Adam must be pretty big blokes!

Derren Brown, sorry. It's a small miracle I know of him, because NOBODY in Germany has heard of him. But, as these things go, when it's successful somewhere, they try it in every other country, so I think Germany is going to get introduced to Derren Brown sometime in the future, and then to dozens of imitators.
