Is BUFFY`s creator going to write Marvel`s X-Men?

According to All the Rage, the new writer on NEW X-MEN will be no other than BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER creator Joss Whedon.

Marvel doesn't want it to leak out fearing that their deal with Whedon would invite the wrath of Hollywood studios as it supposedly "forbids him" to write this kind of thing. That's a hard statement to believe considering that Whedon's been writing books for Dark Horse Comics for a number of years now...

This would be the best news I've heard about in a long time! Two of my faves getting together: Whedon and the X-Men such lovely possibilities.

It's like Scully and Mulder getting together at last. (only, not boring like they made it sound in the show)

let me get this straight, they wanted joss to write a script for the first x-men movie, which he wrote and what he wrote was then s**t-canned! now he's to write for the comic book? am i understanding this right or should i cut back on my prescription drug hobby /(habit)?

I'll believe it when I see it.
Love comics. Love Joss. Love to see something like this happen. But I'm not sure he'd be able to do an ongoing series with his workload. You’ll recall the massive delays on Fray and the troubled Angel miniseries.

As for the X-Men movie thing, there were different people involved in that, namely Hollywood types and not comic book publishers, and from all accounts what he turned in was more then they wanted (they hadn't wanted him to do a whole script, just punch up the dialogue. or so they say) and the director had different ideas about what he wanted to do with the movie.

I don't see it happening... its got to be BS. Unless Marvel would be happy with New X-Men being published 1 issue every six months.

Look how long it took him to complete Fray. The Angel revamp comic was supposed to be an ongoing series, but he's never written a follow up yet.

I think Joss has enough of his own creations to keep him busy, he doesn't need to go messing around with other's.

If he does do this it'll piss me off, to be honest. Seriously, the man needs to focus. How many things does he need to do? We were promised a Buffy Animated series, didn't get it; promised Ripper series, Ripper mini-series, then finally a Ripper TV Movie, didn't get it; promised a Firefly Movie, now hes saying that its only a 'good possibility'. Joss - pick one thing and see it through to the end, for gosh sakes!
