Can we create a roster of competent Beta volunteers?

Happy to beta!
I will check spelling, grammar and general literacy as well as continuity and characterisation.
Preferably not slash or cross-overs (sorry but it's just not my style.)
I have already agreed to beta for Arcadia and also proof-read for the stillflying project. Regardless, I will happily take on multiple fics/authors.
As a rule I'm looking at a 3-day turn around although I will frequently return quicker than this.
PM me for my email address.

Great to see so many good folk have offered their editorial and beta assistance.
Just to let you know, I've cross posted to the FIREFLYFANS.NET Central forum asking the IT/Site Admin Gods if it might be possible to create a way for you helpful folk to post your info over at the writer's resources section. If life intervenes or you find yourself overloaded with requests, please be kind enough to let folks know.
Better Beta means better fanfic and there must be good karma for mentoring other writers, neh? Thanks for stepping up, folks!
One day.
One plan.
One army of Browncoats.
On June 23rd, we aim to misbehave.

(How would one do an LOTR/Firefly x-over? hmmm)
Do you know of any Highlander/Firefly crossovers? I know of one in this site with Methos, whose title I can't recall, but anyone know more?

I've read two or three. The one here is good, as is one I found on another Highlander site. I've been trying to track down the link, since someone else asked about it, too.
My nephew is working on a very unique one, and it will be interesting to see where he takes it.
Mine is... errr... afabulousmarysueimmiecrossoverwithshadesofjayne that isn't really ready for public consumption. Not sure if it ever will be. :D

Not looking to be a poacher here, but if anyone's interested in beta-reading for www.stillflying.net on a regular basis, shoot me an e-mail at gwek@optonline.net.
Before you do so, though, you should know that a lot of times, the message that comes with the script is "We're running a little behind, so if you can offer feedback in the next 48 hours, that would be awesome!"
Keep flying,
George

My first ever fanfic, back whern I was 17, was in the Highlander universe and it screamed Mary Sue, even though I didn't know what a Mary Sue was back then. I actually sent it to a Beta Reader instead of posting it. Of course, I only heard from them once to say the story wasn't "so bad but needed work" and never again. I think they got scared... my Mary Sue was VERY Mary Sue-ish, I'm afraid.
If you track down those links to Highlander x-overs, let me know. It was one of my favourite series and my first fandom!
Okay, done hyjacking this thread... sorry!

I'd be willing to help out. I'm pretty busy but I think I can read one or two a week and still give feedback pretty quickly. I write/read a lot myself so I'm pretty good with syntax and plot holes and such. I only ask for no slut, slash, Jaylee or clowns. I hate clowns.....
Though why somebody would put clowns in the 'verse I've no idea.
Mine is an evil sugar high laugh! Bwahahahaha!

Wanmei: willing to beta any and all fanfiction in all genres, with all ratings and pairings.
I'd be glad to help! :)

Laughing Muse
editing, proofing, dialogue-in-character sanity checks. All genres, all ratings. Turnaround time...generally one week, unless the Muse of Whimsy is visiting my house.
I lovelovelove:
Snarky. Sarcastic. Introspective. Character explorations. Any combination of those.
I would prefer to only proof / grammarcheck:
non-canon pairings, OC-centrics, heavy exposition
Please do not ask me to review:
"anyone/River"-centric fics (unless you **only** want proofing / grammar checks, and no one else is about)

Oh, Morwen, you know I'm gonna have to write a clown-fic now, don't you? And it will be all your fault!
