Back when the show was on air and the "Angel or Xander" question came up, it was always Xander for me. Give me funny and cute over tortured and sexy any day. But then, sadly, Season 4,5,6,7 happened and Xander "expanded." I know, I know...it's terribly shallow of me, but I like my TV men to be a bit more in shape. I think Nicholas Brendan got married sometime in season 4...
. BTW, Angel lost some appeal as he "expanded" as well. DB is back to fighting weight on his new show, though. 
Teinen: I agree that Lorne is strange and ocassionally annoying. I have never been a fan of that character and I am really not fond of him when he is singing.
But he does have some good dialogue and a perspective that is interesting.

I know - it's awful, isn't it!! I feel kinda dirty but then, that makes it all the better ...
Could never quite believe the Angel Season 5 idea that the Bufster is "studying" in Europe - "What's she studying?" I cry - as I recall she had some difficulty with the English language let alone any foreign tongue and I don't remember her being a Veronica Mars or Ryan Atwood in the class room (for those not up on the best shows on telly - I mean someone who never seems to study or even be in school - due to spending all night detecting/ beating people up - and yet still a genius) ...

Don't know about coincidence, CIA, though I obviously believe that we are so in sync its scary ... but certainly the region 2 DVDs only just got released over here - I had it on pre-order...
Feel like a bit of a cheat as stopped watching Angel on TV half way through season 4 - but so desperate to see season 5 that couldn't wait till I can afford seasons 3&4 as well ...

I've seen 1 & 2, but I actually skipped 3 & 4, I just saw Buffy's final season for the first time last month, and yearned for some continuation, hense Angel 5. 1 & 2 were good, but 5 is AWESOME!
I understand 3 & 4 were all creepy and uneven with the pregnant Charisma and all, so I might not see them....
But Angel and Spike, what a team!

Yeah - I too liked Angel 1 &2 - Particularly Pylia, for some strange reason, but then absolutely HATED the Connor crap and found it hard to bother watching ... I watched the end of season 3 briefly as was desperate for Angel and Cordy to finally get together - was so incensed when they didn't that it's hard to describe - Season 4, despite Gina Torres, was just cruddy - But you're right Angel and Spike, coupled with the welcome return of Harmony and Fred getting a backbone, brings season 5 back on form ...

I'd personally take both!! I think Angel is cool for his sexy broodiness and proficiency with weapons, and I like Spike cause he's a smartass, sexy, funny, and he likes to fight. As for Angel and Spike onscreen together...pure gold!!! I loved those scenes esp in Angel season 5, could they be any funnier playing off of each other? And the jealousy between them on both series, pure Jossy goodness!! I love it!!
