I teach high school French (whatever level's needed) and 12th grade English. Speaking of which, I've tried to watch the French version of Serenity a couple of times, but man does it lose energy in the translation--all the wit is gone from the language.

God help you b/c of the subject change or b/c of the grade? I think English is one of the most fun subjects to teach.

Nope you're not the only non pasty person around Whatawhiner. I'm Native American Indian and there was a dicussion earlier as to whether or not there was some sort of Klan meeting going on. Turned out to be a poorly recieved joke. But yep most people round these parts are of european decent. Here is where I was going to make what would have been a poorly recieved joke about religiosity and permisucious sex.

It's always interesting to me how broad a demographic Firefly has compared to a lot of other science fiction.

That said, I do basically nothing to broaden said demographic:

My whole family are fans though, so you've got a 56-year-old male pastor, a 55-year-old female child development specialist, and a 17-year-old soon-to-be high school graduate. Firefly is the first of our "nerd shows" that ever reeled my sister in (though now that the gates are open she's hooked on BSG, too).
