goofs and fun stuff

Hey guys,

This is my first post here, after purchasing the box set rekindled my interest in Firefly (I saw as much as I could on TV when it was out, but damn Fox stuck the show after baseball games, which always ran overtime).

While going through the DVD and the commentaries, I noticed some interesting things.

- In the first episode "Serentiy", at exactly 18 minutes in (chapter 5, to find it easier), Wash rolled out of Serenity and stopped to tell Zoe to watch herself (yes, I can speak Mandarin, and yes I laugh everytime I hear them speak it). As he's talking to her, a gloved hand reaches out and grabs the grill of the mule.

- In Shindig, the commentary (I think it's the voice of the writer Jane Espenson) said that "Zoe's necklace is representative of her marriage bond to Wash, that's why she never takes it off" (3:22 into the episode, chapter 3), but in Out of Gas, a flashback sequence shows that she's wearing it when she stepped into the ship for the first time (about one minute into that episode).

- In War Stories, Mal is missing his left ear, but in this one scene his right ear suddenly is damager. This is 30 minutes 33 seconds into the episode (chapter 9).

Any other goofs? I didn't see a search function in this forum. I hope nobody is offended by my listing of goofs - I just find it funny, as well as gag reels.

Do you know what had me laughing to tears? In Serenity (part two) right after the Crazy Ivan, there is a scene in the cockpit with I think Wash, Mal, and Zoe. The camera pans back to far to the left and Wash isn't holding a steering wheel! He's just miming it! It's a pretty long shot too! It's so funny!

check out war stories and see if you can locate the highway traffic in the background (when zoe,book, and jayne examine mal's drop site for the drug deal). also, in serenity, when mal,zoe,and jayne get back on board after loading salvaged cargo into airlock, the artificial gravity kicks in AFTERWARDS. is this inconsistent with later eps pertaining to airlock entry/egress?

I normally don't watch for this sort of thing, but I couldn't help but notice a consistancy problem in the teaser of The Message. As Zoe comforts Simon, she puts her hand across his back and over his right shoulder. The camera angle shifts slightly, and her hand appears on his left shoulder.

While watching Jaynestown again, I noticed the guitar player doesn't seem to be actually playing the guitar.
