Favourite robot (or 'droid') of all time?

Most of you probably don't know this one, but my favorite is the Maria Robot from Fritz Lang's "Metropolis." Her metallic form is said to be the inspiration for C-3P0, and her android form was just creepy.
By the way, EVERYONE should see "Metropolis" (1927?) -- it's a very cool, very classic movie.

The 3000 years in the future styling was fine. Why did they have to bugger about with it?
Let's hope they don't get their restyling mitts on the TARDIS. It'll be redone as one of those perspex hoods you see at train stations.

I must say that Muffit from the original BSG is my alltime favorit robot, remember when I watched the movie on my parents Betamax and I loved that furry/metally little critter.

oh I think Spiner worked very hard to give Data his androidhood...in the episode when he creates a daughter, and he is devistated by the loss of her...
the non-emotional was more moving than all the over the top emotional break downs of Deanna Troy...
