Like the name Vulture, but it doesnt fit this perticular ship.
But I have begun to design some new ships based on ideas Ive gotten from suggestions here. For example the Cricket Class Light Transport, and now I got a great idea for a Vulture Class Salvage Cruiser, old class of salvage ship, mostly used by illegal salvagers and Reavers these days.

Ahoy, vinterdraken!
Could be some Swedish in my background, but it would be centuries back and there would be no way to sort it out by now, unless there's something special in the mitochondrial DNA.
I have seen Vasa, however, as a tourist in Stockholm.
All of these suggestions are so good that one could invent an entire scheme for naming ships.
Overnight, during my insomnia, I came up with Dragonfly and Mantis classes as being bigger than Firefly without being huge. "Deliverance" wouldn't be a good Mantis, however, as they are predatory.
(To us US-ians with any length of film-going experience, "Deliverance" conjures up images of primitive backwoods bad men, with a soundtrack of dueling banjos. It's hard to get around. Heh.)

Well, since people seemed to have enjoyed it here is the Vulture Class Salvage Cruiser that I was inspired to desing after reading a name suggestion here. The ship is a older model of salvage ship that isnt used very often by sanctioned salvagers anymore. It has the ability to dock with smaller ships in its scaffold for either salvage or repairs. also it boasts a large robotic arm that it can use to grapple its targets. The Vulture has "wings" and VTOL thrusters for Atmo travel but isnt really adapted to those conditions. Landing a vulture on a planet usually requires a special landing pad since its undercarriage lacks landing gear and has alot of equipment, its ATMO capabilitys are mostly for dropping of salvage on moons and such. In my chronicle the vulture will be used by 2 groups mostly and thats Pirates and Reavers. Now, lets get back to that cricket light transport... http://artpad.art.com/gallery/?iygn0u2jop0

The Cricket class light Transport. What I wanted here was to get it really small and light, also I really wanted the insectlike landing gear concept that is featured on the fireflys. And I got this crazed idea of a engine hangin beneath the main body of the ship. Another thing I wanted with this ship was a Cargobay that opened in the top, sort off like a spaceshuttle today and I wanted it to have some resamblence to a cricket.

I still can't see your ships b/c my software is a mite obsolete, but I am imagining. Engine on the bottom? Better not land like Wash that last time. Expensive.

The first Vulture that will make its appearance in my chronicle will be a reaver raidship so It wont really have a name anymore.
Landing a cricket on its Belly (or a vulture for that matter) can indeed become very expensive ;)

Naming a ship like this would be personal. We know what the name "Serenity" means to Mal.
