Hey everyone, I've been here less than a week. Saw Serenity first, fell in love with the BDHs and then devoured the series.

I'm a girl, btw. I know you can't tell by my name. I just thought Wash was so cute with his dinosaurs that I had to recognize him somehow. And I like alliteration. :)

It's good to meet everyone here.

Hey, DashboardDino,

Welcome to the 'verse. Usually this place is a mite nicer, we've been a bit on edge this week.

You will find this a shiny place full of really good folk who all love Firefly just as much as you and with the same passion and love.

You'll need your browncoat... new folks get their very own browncoat.

*hands DBD her very own browncoat*

Wear it proudly and remember you are among family.

See you around the boards and don't forget to share Firefly/Serenity with those you love... we all want more of the 'verse.

I saw Serenity in theatres here in Ontario, Canada, and fell in love. I was raving to a friend about how amazing it was, and was then informed that it was a tv series. Promptly watched them all, and I've been swearing in Chinese, talking about the magic three switches, and singing theme songs ever since.

I've succeeded in converting one of my friends (hey ThrillingHeroics!), I'm working on another one, and I've even got a die-hard Trekkie borrowing my DVDs!

My livejournal icon says "Mine is an evil laugh" and my dream car will have dinosaurs on the dashboard.

Not to make this thread longer than it already is, but...I am.
Hi all, I'm new. I generally don't like sci fi, and wasn't even that big a fan of buffy when it came out, but then my friend gave me a burned copy of serenity and I was blown away - a sci fi with clever lines, awsome characterization, and Kaylee? Awsome! Then I got my wisdom teeth out...and watched all 13 firefly episodes/bonus materials over the course of the two day healing process. Anyway, firefly + serenity = awsome, and I'm proud to say that I will soon be buying myself one of those "Dear Buddha" shirts.

Hello to everyone! I suppose I'm pretty new too! I never saw the show when it was originally on, since I don't usually watch Fox, or TV really, except for History Channel and BBC America and sometimes SciFi...but I ramble....

So I saw the previews for the BDM, but never saw it in theatres. I finally saw it about a mounth ago and pretty much fell head over heels for it. I've seen some of the show via SciFi but I havent seen all of it. But I will soon and I can't wait!

I'm still confused as to how the show could have been cancelled. It's got so much more to it than most of what's "popular." It's not trying to set up situations that will make people act their worst (ie "reality" TV) or being ridiculously dramatic or ridiculously stupid... It really does create an entirely new world- one that lives and breathes and changes and can be really scary sometimes.

I think what really grabbed me, though, was the dialogue. The words and the way the actors/actresses said them really established the characters and the culture of the 'verse. I love linguistics, so it was really cool to listen to this new futuristic vernacular that sounded real, like it was used everyday. I actually started slipping into it by the end of the movie!

So yeah...that was my little rant about what got me into the 'verse. Sorry if it started to ramble.

New to the 'verse but ready and more than willing to learn.

Welcome to our part of the verse MORWEN112,

Glad you're aboard. If you haven't seen all of the FF series you're in for a treat. Enjoy.
