You know, if that's the case, then I find the fact that the FF DVD is ranked in the top 10 right now, 2 1/2 years after it was released, really amazing. Of course, it does not tell you how many orders that is, but those strong sales have got to mean something to somebody, don't you think?

In addition to purchasing from Amazon (and it'd be great if folks click through using the link on this site to help drop some coin to support it), fans can also purchase Serenity DVDs from the Universal Home Entertainment website.

That would be a very direct way of communicating the sales numbers right to Universal... plus they may even make more of a profit that way.

I am guessing that too... unless... it is done through a third party :S is there anyway to be sure?

And in terms of buying dvds, there should be a preferential order:

1) Buy Dvds from Universal site

2) Buy it from a local independent store.

3) if not the other two, then buy from amazon, through this site(or serenitymovie.org, i think maybe even serenitymovie.net too.. ) to support the site.

theatre have advertised and believe they are mostly doing favors for those who worked so hard to make June 23 happen

i've communicated my idea before but i don't think i've posted it on the fff.net yet.

I think this is a great idea to read up:

I believe that we sould all push to purchase the dvds on june 23rd. That will be the big buying day. Also, write the letters to joss for a thank you, universal for a thank you and fox for a f*** you (j/k on the fox thing:tounge:) The letters will give details to what to expect over the coming months, what is happening on june 23rd and what will happen on serenity day. That way they know, no matter if there's a blip on the sales or some headlines on the news.

from june 24th to sapt 29th, that will be when we schedule events that we can participate in our own way: for example: July 29th will be flyer day

or August 12th will be shindig day (private viewing and charge 2 bucks or whatever to raise money for the event)

I'm seriously thinking of buying 4-5 movie boards and auctioning them off on e-bay to raise money

the big question is, what do we do september 30th? june 23rd is spend money day, but what's going to be the special event on serenity day? we need somthing that will hook old browncoats and fans that don't know it yet (let's face it, everyone is a browncoat, they just don't know it).

I think the charity thing is a GREAT idea, but it's being done already.. we need somthing new and fresh. Somthing that hasn't been done before like E.N.S.N.

hey.
well the idea is that june 23rd is too soon to have a big big dvd sales push.... since it requires time to recruit at cons etc... the idea is that after a summer of promoting and campaigning on the anniversay of the North american release buy the dvds, that when most of the people(old and new, and some recent converts) to buy the dvd as a show of support, strength and thank you to Universal. A gradual buildup of numbers. The idea is that we can get X amount of people for june 23rd, but if we work throughtout the summer, we can get 2*X or 10*X as many people for Sept 30th. People recruit people, who recruit people...a cascading effect.

Anyways...I cant help out now unfortunately... but after June 23rd, I will see what I can do to lend my hand to have this campaign go forward.... I wont be able to lead... god I suck at that... but I wouldnt mind being part of a council. Do we need one leader? can't we have a few people coordinate(like 3 or 4)... the running of the campaign? I wouldnt mind being a co-facilitator.

In terms of writing letters of thank you on June 23rd, I wouldnt be opposed to that, but I wouldnt want to tell them details.... it would be nice to have them pleasant surprises. Just to tell them the fandom is here, we are not going away, and are committed to expanding the fnadom. Or something like that. What I am worried about is that if we give them details, plans change or things dont work out(and following Murphy's Laws... they might/will), they might be disappointed.. and think we are all a bunch of yahoos...

ETA : In terms of charity, from henceforth onwards I Kurya, aka Prakash, will claim june 23rd for 2007, 2008, 2009, and 2010, will be charity day of action, and nobody will be allowed to take that day since I called it FIRST! :P After 2010, its up for grabs. So shall it be written, so shall it be done. *this last bit was purely tongue in cheek humour*

Ok another thought, blasphemous, and scandolous, and feel free to tell me to go suck an egg....or preferably lettuce since I am vegetarian and dont eat eggs.

It seems Kaele and her ilk are determined to go for june 23rd push for DVD sales. I dunno if there is anyway to convince them to change, but it seems less and less likely as time goes by.

So how about we go for the Serenity Summer Campaign to end on the day Big Damn Anniversay, and create a separate entity campaign. Since Serenity Day lead by Kaele et al, is going for June 23rd, we won't be conflicting with them or others.

Can we come up with a simple comprehensive plan? And have it cross posted on all of the other forums to ask for volunteers for that and potential co-facilitators? Maybe ask some big whigs to help out? (gossi, jeremy...)

I guess I should suggest 3 big problems with this though:
1) this would be considered mutinous, and be looked down upon by the June 23rd workers and supporters.
2) Create another schism in the fandom(oh joy)
3) confuse people even further.

In terms of Universal, I dont think they would care as long as there are DVD sales, and it seems the fandom is involved somewhat, even if its in different campaigns(and not one behemouth campaign). Even though technically this wouldnt be overriding others...
