Movie: probably Gladiator
TV Show: Battlefields, I believe that it used to be on PBS but I've seen it on Military Channel as well.

My fave war show is 'Band of Brothers'. My fave war movie is 'The Longest Day (B&W version)'. Private Ryan and Black Hawk are a close 2nd.

I'm not sure if I'd call some of those movies "films"... Gladiator? really? Man, I thought that was awful. Braveheart was much better, in my opinion. Patton was good too. Apacolypse Now. yeah.

I love Gladiator, and I'd call it a film, although I don't really differentiate between film and movie anyway. I have a thing for sword'n'sandal epics like Ben Hur and Spartacus. I also love Deadwood.
I've just watched the first season on dvd and it's brilliant, very reminiscent of Firefly, some of the episodes even had David Boyd as DP. It's beautifully shot. One character even uses the word 'shiny' and my ears pricked up, so you've got to love it for that alone. The characters are brilliantly written and acted. Rome is another great historical TV Show that HBO did. I look forward to the next season when it finally gets here.
Gone with the Wind is a classic too. The Thin Red Line is another beautifully shot film, very visually memorable. Full Metal Jacket - starring a young Adam Baldwin, is a great war film too.
Thats all I can think of at the moment.
