Doctor Who, is anyone else watching it?

What do I mean by British? The humour is dry and some things are assumed which I don't exactly enjoy... and, it's MOM, not mum! ;)
Even so, I still say it's better than half the TV shows out there.
I find the British feel to be charming. I love the British accent, especially coming from Billie Piper.
Anyway, I like Doctor Who so far. It's humorous, entertaining, and wacky (in a good way). Good show.

I wasn't sure what to expect -- seeing's how I haven't watched Dr. Who since the Tom Baker/Peter Davidson years, but I've been watching every week and have *really* been enjoying it.
I was instantly transported back over 20 years when I heard that theme song again!!
I'm really looking forward to seeing how the Daleks of "today" compare to how there were back in the "olden" days!

Yes that was him.. Also the bad guy mobster in "Gone in 60 seconds" he seems to be quite a "fantastic" actor and did an awesoem job as teh 9th doctor.. I watched bootlegs from England last year as the series unfoled and it was awesome!

Yay!
'Dalek' is a corker (though I have minor issues with the ending) and the Dalek itself is brick-your-pants scary!
They're far more dangerous and lethal than in the old series, and have some new tricks up their plungers. Let's just say that I could see ten of them take on a National Guard division and come out tops.
And they look far chunkier, shinier (in both senses of the word) and cooler than in the original series. Gone is the wobbling, gone is the inability to traverse more than flat, smooth floors. They're officially scary again.
And oh-so-cunning.
I really enjoyed the first series, but I do think that Rose, Unquiet Dead, Aliens of London, World War III, The Long Game and Boomtown are more or less average episodes that are slightly lacking. The other half are utterly fantastic!

I love Doctor Who. I’m Irish so I saw all this when it first went out last year. I didn’t know what to expect at first. I’m 23 so “my” Doctor was Sylvester McCoy and even though I have become a fan of the Tom Baker era thanks to the magic of video and DVD I still have a habit of thinking of McCoy when I think of the Doctor. I was very pleasantly surprised, it was faster, it had more money, but it was still Doctor Who! And it still had the best damn theme tune on TV.
As everyone has said the show hits its stride in episode 6. Trust me you’ll never look at a plunger the same way again!

Yeh Dr Who rules. As for being too British, you know Mal watches Dr Who in his alone time just know he reads Hitch Hikers guide :). WHat Mal does is just a job to him, he needs his downtime : At least the UK don't ressurect an old series and think they need to ressurect a key character as a different sex. *cough* starbuck. Dr Who has always stuck to its format and shwed 2 new fantastic Drs. Best sci/fi series the UK has produced since...ever :). SOrry guys im a bit too annoyed about the 'a bit too british' comment. Is Firefly 'a bit too american'?. NO. so dont say that. watch Dr Who and you will be surprised at how good it is. We dont have the budget and SFX but we have great stories. Also as Haze said it's the best theme tune of any TV prog and instantly recognisable :) Can't wait for the new series

I watched it last year on CBC and have hopes of seeing series 2 before next fall when CBC is scheduling it to be shown. I don't have cable as i refuse to give Comcast another dime.

Well, the new series has started. No matter what, I'd still fondly remember The Empty Child / Dr Dances as Dr Who's "Out of Gas".
And you can't (fingers crossed) go wrong with Cybermen.

The feem toon. Billie Piper getting taken over by Cassandra, from the end of the world episode (Zoe Wanamaker - Miss Hootch from Hogwarts, Sam's daughter, a fairly heavy-duty actress in her own right. Billie does a deadly accurate Grand Dame of the English Theatre trapped in a Chav's body. Excellent.
The Bad:

Kicked off with a weak plot. David Tennant is usually very good, but he needs to hold back the overacting. He was just Casanova again, but pumped up on the twitchy hamminess that made Barty Crouch Jr. a bit unwatchable.
And the soundtrack. Dear God, you can hardly hear any dialogue over the overblown orchestral dross that sloshes over everything all the time. And when there is some running about between scenes. Well then, it GETS REALLY REALLY DIVE FOR THE REMOTE, THE CAT'S HAIR IS FALLING OUT LOUD.
