Thanks for the info. An inch sounds pretty good cost is an issue with precious metals. May I also suggest for some future project of your's a shuttle pendant. It could be a nice 'verse take on the classic and venerable scarab. Just a thought maybe a good one, maybe not only those who are not me can know for sure.

I can't wait though, maybe your items will be ready before the ornament is released, well one can hope. Well thanks again!

Finally, I have some news for you folks! I have the artwork in hand for three of the designs; as luck would have it it's for the three designs that were less popular: the serenity ship outline, the stylized, minimalist Serenity logo, and the Serenity Chinese characters.

The artwork for the 3D ship design is going to take a while longer, so for several reasons I've decided to go ahead and order the first three.

1) You've all been waiting for so long, I feel like I need to get this going.

2) It's going to cost a lot of money to order these, and I'm low on that at the moment. I can come up with the money for some of them a lot easier than all of them, and by selling these first three designs I will make some of that back and accumulate money to pay for the 3D ships once that artwork is ready.

3) Sterling silver prices have been skyrocketing; it's going to cost a lot more to order these than it would have a few months ago. I'd just as soon get at least one order in before they go any higher.

FAQ

1) How much? I won't know exactly for a while; castings need to be made and such. As soon as I have the information, I'll post.

2) How long? According to the company, the process should take about 2 months.

3) Pre-orders? If I end up with pictures of the actual product, a final price, and a delivery date I'll post these on my site for pre-order.

awesome idea and i love the rest of your work too.
depending on the size of the 3d pendant i would be interested in getting one for a necklace and would probably be interested in one of the chinese character pendants too.

Here's a Big Damn Update at last!

The order has been placed for the first three designs (all created by the very talented Charlie Parry!). These are the ship outline, the stylized logo, and the Serenity Chinese characters. The 3D ship garnered the most interest, but the artwork for it is taking a long time so I decided to go ahead and order what I can.

They estimate about a month from now as far as delivery; I'll keep you all posted. In order to same time, I am just going to preview photos of the molds they create instead of having them send me actual samples to approve. This means I don't think I'll have photos of the actual product until I have them in hand, so at this point I don't think I'll be taking pre-orders.

They say the molds should be complete sometime next week; at that point they should find out the actual weight of each design and I will at last be able to quote you a firm price.

I want to thank all of you for your patience and your input in this; it's been very helpful and I hope you love the pendants! Here is the concept art for the designs I ordered.

Just a little update, the first three designs have made it through the manufacturing process and are in the mail to me now. The first three designs are the stylized logo, Chinese characters, and the Serenity ship outline. Still working on the 3D ship!
