What song would you have during the opening credits to replace the original Firefly theme?
I was disscusing this with a friend and we couldn't think of any.

Not that it needs replacing lol.
"Brothers in Arms" Dire Straits
Doesnt completely fit, by its the closed I could come up with. Its a song about the futility of war and the compradery it creates between the people involved.
For refernce Brothers in Arms lyrics
These mist covered mountains
Are a home now for me
But my home is the lowlands
And always will be
Some day you’ll return to
Your valleys and your farms
And you’ll no longer burn
To be brothers in arms
Through these fields of destruction
Baptisms of fire
I’ve watched all your suffering
As the battles raged higher
And though they did hurt me so bad
In the fear and alarm
You did not desert me
My brothers in arms
There’s so many different worlds
So many differents suns
And we have just one world
But we live in different ones
Now the sun’s gone to hell
And the moon’s riding high
Let me bid you farewell
Every man has to die
But it’s written in the starlight
And every line on your palm
We’re fools to make war
On our brothers in arms
"You can't take the sky from me"

Hmmm.....boring answer, I know, but I have to say I really wouldn't want to replace it with anything - I love the theme song!
- Shiny. Let's be bad guys.
That is not dead which can eternal lie, and with strange aeons even death may die

Me too, in fact it is on a CD I play at work when I am needing some energy and rejuvination. Or just a browncoat fix, that happens every so often also.

Were I there during the War of Unification I would have been an Alliance Patriot, but I would have run guns for the Browncoats. No I am not a greedy baby eating monster! Gunrunning would have been the patriotic thing to do.
Governments have a way of warping ideals.

There's a reason for that...

Indeed. Then again, I happen to love the lyrics to the original theme, but I'm not crazy about the vocalist (Sonny Rhodes, I believe?). I heard a cover of it by someone named P.J. Shapiro - probably found it somewhere on this board - and I liked that one more.

On the turning away
From the pale and downtrodden
And the words they say
Which we won’t understand
Don’t accept that what’s happening
Is just a case of others’ suffering
Or you’ll find that you’re joining in
The turning away
It’s a sin that somehow
Light is changing to shadow
And casting it’s shroud
Over all we have known
Unaware how the ranks have grown
Driven on by a heart of stone
We could find that we’re all alone
In the dream of the proud
On the wings of the night
As the daytime is stirring
Where the speechless unite
In a silent accord
Using words you will find are strange
And mesmerized as they light the flame
Feel the new wind of change
On the wings of the night
No more turning away
From the weak and the weary
No more turning away
From the coldness inside
Just a world that we all must share
It’s not enough just to stand and stare
Is it only a dream that there’ll be
No more turning away?
"You can't take the sky from me"
