I was going to start making comparisions between that viewpoint and censorship in China, and how fuuny it is that many of the people whp preach these ideas in the US have a real hard on for tough anti China policy... but you have made it clear we actually agree more so on this point than the author of that book.

Oh, and the we thing... I was having a similar disagreement with someone else who kept saying " we " and I asked, as I asked you and the response I got was " any real American "... so by extention I asked if that meant if anyone disagreed with him they weren't " real Americans " and so on.

I guess part of the question is where one can draw the line how far one can go to protest policy, my feeling is publicly speaking out is good, debate is healthy ( as long as it is respected ) the other side of the line is for example when US soldiers were called babykillers and spat upon by protesters.... that sort of action can and should not be tolerated. I can respect people plotting civil war and overthrow of a government more so that crap like that.

So where do you feel the lines should be drawn ? where does the right to protest policy come up against both the states right to preserve order and anothers individual right to disagree with the protestor ?

On Laura's book, Shut Up and Sing, I think it's a valid position she takes. That entertainers think their opinions carry more weight than anyone else simply because of who they are - entertainers. Like they honestly have a grasp on what is going on in the world. Alice Cooper admitted as such, that he was a rock star, not a politician. What the hell do rock stars know ( I'm paraphrasing his words ) about anything other than music, drinking, drug use and womanizing? Nothing!

And just because we have the freedom to speak out, doesn't always make it right. Certainly I'm opposed to Gov't censorship. Please don't get that impression that I'd favor it at all. But being contrarian for the mere sake of taking an opposing view point doesn't strike me as being terribly noble. If one is well informed or passionate about something, they should take the time to understand the issue. Sadly, most don't. Most tend to read 1 article or see a few soundbites worth of news, and suddenly they feel 'enlightened'. It's pathetic.

My witch hunt? I never boycotted the Dixie Chicks or stopped buying their music or attending their concerts because of their remarks or told anyone else to do so, not that any of that represents a witch hunt. Though I suspect that doesn’t really matter to you. I suspect that you accuse me of a witch hunt based purely on the fact that I won’t ridicule the people who didn’t agree with the Dixie Chicks? Which kind of makes this your witch hunt, right?

Would you like me to take issue with it? Alrighty then. I don’t think the Dixie Chicks are traitors, I think they’re rich girls who don’t have a clue what their talking about and like many people who don’t know what they’re talking about, they say stupid stuff that might come back and bite them in the ass, like it did in this case. Like it does all the time with celebrities.

As far as death threats are concerned, I’m not aware that any such thing occurred, but if it did, it certainly doesn’t represent what I think, nor do I think it represents the vast majority of people who disagreed with the Dixie Chicks. And anyone who did make death threats or any other kind of threats to the Dixie Chicks is probably an asshole who deserves to be smacked upside the head.

As far as being blacklisted from Country Music Radio. I have no problem with that. At. All. Country Music Radio has every right to decide which musicians they will play. There are all kinds of musicians out there who will never be played on the radio for reasons that have nothing to do with stupid comments they made; I’m not the least bit concerned that the Dixie Chicks, who have acquired a vast wealth and fame, won’t be played on the radio. Though I suspect that was only temporary.

And as far as taking issue with this particularly song, I haven't even heard it so why would I take issue it or what it's about?

I'm not a country music fan, altho I do like the country and do like music. This song is more accoustic and a little less twang.

Funny how Jewish Clear Channel bans their radio music (and banned 100s of other songs after 9/11), then promotes and profits from all their concerts. Like Bush Sr buying Eminem and Jadakiss (Why?), after they sang songs accusing Jr Bush of bombing USA on 9/11 - just like he bought Serenity, to profit again from MKULTRA Project Monarch CIA slavery.

I don't care for Eminem's or Jadakiss' music, but I do appreciate those two songs. Same for Rolling Stones' My Sweet Neocon, by Sir Mick Jagger Knight of the British Empire.

Oops, sorry, Sir George Bush Sr Knight of the British Empire has now censored "his" Mosh music video (Carlyle Group owns Universal Studios which owns Interscope Records which owns Eminem's music). MTV bans music from MTV, and only shows fake reality shows and Police State propaganda now. MTV even banned NIN from winning an award, for daring to post a giant mugshot of Jr Bush.

Alot of bands are piling on the Bush Gang, but Clear Channel and all other mainline networks ban those songs. In the case of Jadakiss, they actually censored the word "BUSH" from the song "WHY", when Jadakiss sang "Why did Bush knock down the Towers?" In Knoxville TN, the song said "Why did ... knock down the Towers?"
