I'm also new to this place but I'm loving it so far!
I've only seen the movie once, and only a few of the episodes on tv recently but I loved it instantly.
And normally I wouldn't participate in any of the discussion on the net, but after reading all of your messages on the different messageboards I couldn't help myself 
.
People here are so warm and open at times... It's very different from the people I meet in my regular life.
Anyway, I hope to have some nice conversations here and I'll start by asking "Why do you like Firefly so much?"
(I do not have a very large vocabulary in English
and my sentences aren't always that fluent so please correct me if need be...)

You obiviously have very good taste.....
Everytime someone asks why i like Firefly so much, i usually come up with a different answer...so i'll stick with 'different'....with all the cookie-cutter sit-coms, cop, dr, lawyer...& reality shows around, something like Firefly is a gem in the rough. A TV show that is compelling, funny, sometimes a little sad and always entertaining. It's just hard to find something like that in the vast wasteland that is usually television programming..... and i like surprises...!

I know exactly what you mean (although I could't have said it in such correct words!).
We don't even watch television so much anymore as we used to, because it's all the same!!
I'm especially fed up with all the forensic show lately. Everday 'CSI this' and 'CSI somewhere else'! I've seen enough corpses to last me a lifetime!
I'm also fond of dry humour and Firefly does have that plenty!
River must be my favourite character of the show.
A troubled heroine always speaks to me; that's why I liked 'Alias' so much at first.
And of course Mal... aaaah... he definitely speaks to me ;-)
When I was younger (not that I'm so very old now!) I was a huge fan of Buffy. Also because of the humour and the troubled heroinething.
(I'm beginning to see a pattern here )

Wow, this certainly has been an active couple of days for new recruits, I think if I have any more "welcome wagon strawberries" I'll burst ;p (Well... a few more couldn't hurt.)
