Who's your favourite Character?

I just love Simon, he is my favorite, followed by Saffron then a close tie between Kaylee and Inara. But there are so many things abbout all the characters that I love!!! This show was so well written you just love each of the characters for specific reasons. But yes, Simon is my favorite.

Well, just to be contrary, I'm gonna take the tenth character: Serenity.
Didn't we all get a wrench when she had that bad case of heartburn in OoG? Or lost her legs in the BDM?

I almost cried when she got all tore up in the BDM. It just hurt sooo much to see that.
Otherwise I've got to go with Mal and River.
Thay are broken people and that makes them deep characters. Also I can identify with it. And for smaller reasons as well. I'm in lust with Mal and River shares my affinity for bare feet.
They are followed closely by Wash, and Jayne, and Kaylee. Oh and Book...

River, hands down, for two main reasons: We're both a little leaky in the brainpan (her a lot, me, not so much), and she's only a few years younger than I am. And she's a dancer who can kill me. How could I not respect that?
Next on my list of favorites is Jayne. Come on, he's the hero of Canton!

I love every character in their own way, but really have to go with is Book. He has more of a connection to the rest of the world than the other characters, except Inara. He has what seems to be the most complex background and more confusion and complication being involved with the crew than anyone else.
I enjoy watching Jayne the most. It's the whole lack to loyalty to River that makes him not my favorite. He shows some respect for Simon a few times during Serenity, but once again turns on River. It took me a long time to realize how significant that scene in the movie is. It happens so quickly, but is to me the lowest point of Jaynes character throughout the entire series.

As someone said before, I can't choose really because they all have such good things about them. That being said, the ones that i relate to most/am most like is some combo of Mal (sense of nobility, overall), Wash (sense of humour), and Simon (general geekiness and inexperience w/ladies).
Still kind of upset about Wash, seeing as i loved him since the dinos, but this reminded me somehow of something I read somewhere else that i can't remember, an expansion on the Chuck Norris legends:
Chuck Norris's tears cure cancer. Too bad he has never cried. Except, when Wash died, Chuck Norris cried a single perfect tear.

It doesn't seem like I should have a favorite, since the entire crew is a perfect conglomeration (wow, can't believe I just typed that) of complex and fascinating characters, but that being said ...

I have given this some thought & it is a tough choice but this is the order I would place them from favorite to least favorite.
1. Mal - Simply the most important character in the show and it could not continue without him. He is also a very entertaining character that is uncompromising, funny & a bad ass.
2. Jayne - I like him mostly for his humor. I think he is the funniest character on the show. With just a few words and a funny look he just cracks me up. "Are we gonna clone him?"
3. River - I am very impressed with summers acting on the show & most of her dialogue is simply poetry.
4. Wash - Funny and a bad ass pilot.
5. Simon - love for his sister is endearing and a big part of the heart of the show.
6. Zoe - I love the comradery she shares with Mal. The loyalty and the love she has for him. I would have loved to see how her relationship with Mal played out over a series. I don't think they would have ever been a couple but i think she loves Mal as much as Simon loves river, perhaps in the same way.
7. Kaylee - Very sweet and a joy to watch, The soul of the ship.
8. Inara - Beautiful and an interesting relationship with Mal.
9. Book - A great character that probably would have moved up the list if the show had continued and we had the chance to see him develop and learn more about his history.

I have two favorite characters for two different reasons.
First is Wash. I mean, how could you not like the guy? I was a Alan Tudyk fan years before Firefly even came out, so this is a no-brainer.
Second is Jayne. This is mostly due to character development. I think Jayne really had the potential to be a really multi-faceted character had the series not been cancelled. There could have been some interesting storylines regarding his past and his relationship with the crew. Sadly, FOX network decided to torture and punish us all.
At last.
We can retire and give up
this life of crime.
