California fires brought out Firefly humor

First let me say that I don't laugh at others misfortune, and at one point I was helping to get the dog and cats safely out of my sister's house while the flames were coming down the next hill (her house was spared). But at a different point last Sunday I was driving with a friend and my 9 year old daughter (in a much safer area) and we were talking about how the whole sky was thick, dark smoke, and my daughter says "and it's not like it's going to float up into a magical land with a unicorn and a harp."
(I love my little browncoat!)

hey, humor is some of the best medicine. Those who can laugh in the face of darkness, are all manner of shiny for themselves and everyone else
You think I look good now, wait till you see me in my new "Browncoat T-shirt"

What a great response. The fires made me think of Firefly this morning too. I was listening to a report on NPR when a fire fighter said "You are safe out there in the black". He meant that the already burned off areas were places to go when the flames get too near. But my mind flashed to a vision of Serenity, tail blazing, headed into the black.
