Forced to watch some of it and found it dull. Maybe I missed too much cause I only saw the last installment (at least it seemed like the last).

I had been waiting for this to come out. All in all, it was very disapointing. The acting was pretty terrible in my opinion and it dragged on and on. I found that I could not figure out who the main actor looked like. From one shot he looked like David D. from X-files (i am not butchering his last name, hince the reference) From another angle he looked like the love child of Kevin Sorbo and Jared Leto, and still yet another angle alot like Daniel Craig (the new 007). It was frustrating

I watched the first half and tivo'd the second half because I had to work.

All in all, I liked it. The guy playing Sigfried underwhelmed me, both with his weird look and his lack of acting, but otherwise, I thought it was a fun retelling of the story from Das Niebelungenlied. The production values weren't bad for a "made-for-TV" show. And the blonde chick was quite easy on the eyes.

Considering that this was a "Sci-Fi Original" from the same station that brought us that terrible space-cowboys-fighting-vampires flick--which was like three Joss shows in a blender, minus the good dialogue and acting--I was generally pleased.

I think I would have enjoyed it more if I didn't already know the story upon which it was based because I spent the whole time going, "Wait a minute - what? How are they doing this?"

Also, the poor German dude they had playing Siegfried had the WORST accent I've ever heard from a German speaking English. It wasn't thick - it was just weird enough that every single thing he said made me laugh hysterically, and normally I really like German accents. (Real ones - not the ones Nazis have in movies) I think they're pretty! Also, his facial expressions were really funny. It's hard to feel sympathetic towards the main character when he seems like such a doofus.

I liked the costumes and the scenery, but these two things do not a good fantasy film make.

I watched the mini-series without any knowledge of the story it was based on. I thought the production was well done. The acting was hit & miss as it sometimes is in these kinds of programs. Benno Furman - the dragonslayer - had an odd appearance and I kept trying to figure where i had seen him before - (never did). I liked the actress who played the Queen of Iceland - Kristanna Loken - and would like to see more of her work. Poor old Max Von Sydow seems to get stuck with less than memorable parts lately, although i thought his was the best acted part in the series.

Going in without any expectations, I was impressed with the story. Not the typical happy ending you normally get with tv dramas, and there were enough plot twists to hold my interest (although i did doze off a couple times in part two)....

Overall I would rate it a B or B+ for television - which is really good to be coming from me.

Then....i saw some commercials for upcoming shows on Sci-Fi....Ghost Hunters & Psychic something or other...and i thought, this crap instead of a great program like Firefly....what's up with that? Other than Dr. Who & some of these mini series i may watch, Sci Fi channel really has nothing to hold my interest. And I was so happy to be able to finally get that channel. What a waste.

Benno Furman really was disappointing in the role of Siegfried I thought. His acting was flat & his facial expression rarely changed. He reminded me a lot of Arnold Schwarzenegger & that killed it for me.

I think that Kristanna Loken did a good job as Brunhild. As Cedric said, she is a beautiful lady and I think she fit the role well.

I have read the tale of the Nibelung & this mini series did not follow it too closely.

All in all, it was okay. Not really up to the hype, but okay for a Sci Fi original.
