I'm sure this has been discussed before, but I missed it. What are the lyrics and CHORDS for Jayne's song? I'm mostly interested in the chords, but when i was deciphering the lyrics, i found it hard to hear. This is what I have so far:
Jayne: The man they call Jayne!
Chorus:
He robbed from the rich and he gave to the poor/ stood up to the man (and he gave him what more)
Our love for him now ain't hard to explain/ a hero a (candin) a man they call...JAYNE
Verse:
Our Jayne saw the mother's backs breaking/ he saw the (mudders) the men
And he saw the (majestrate) taken every dollar and leaving 5 cents
So he said you can't do that to my people/ you can't crush them under your heal.
So he strapped on his hat (blahblahblah)/(blahblahblahblah) stone everything (blah)
Chorus
Verse:
Now here is what separates heros from common folk like you and I
The man they call Jayne, he turned around his place and let that money hit the sky
(bllllllllllllllllllllllahhhhhhhh)/and dumped it into our yard
(blahhhhhhhhhhh)/ out for a charge?
help? Chords too?
"Did he just go crazy and fall asleep?" -Wash
"I told him to sit down," -Simon

BUSKER
Jayne \ The man we call Jayne \ He robbed
from the rich and he gave to the poor \
Stood up to the Man and he gave him what for \
Our love for him now ain't hard to explain \
The Hero of Canton, the man they call Jayne \
Our Jayne saw the Mudders' backs breaking \
He saw the Mudders lament \ And he saw the
magistrate taking \ Every dollar and leaving
five cents \ So he said, "You can't do that
to my people" \ He said...
(singing continues)
MUDDERS
Our love for him now ain't hard to explain \
The Hero of Canton, the man they call Jayne
BUSKER
Now here is what separates heroes \ From
common folk like you and I \ The man they
call Jayne \ He turned 'round his plane \
And let that money hit the sky
MUDDERS
(singing)
The man they call Jayne!
Found this on a script site, not all of it. I'm sure theres a full song in a script somewhere...

I was watching Jaynestown on my computer and was able to hear the background singing more clearly than before. I caught some lines I haven't seen mentioned yet so I thought I would share. Enjoy.
Jayne
The man they call Jayne
chorus:
He robbed from the rich and he gave to the poor
Stood up to the man and he gave him what for
Our love for him now, ain't hard to explain
The hero of Canton the man they call Jayne
Our Jayne saw the mudders backs breakin'
He saw the mudders lament
And he saw the Magistrate takin'
Every dollar and leavin' five cents
So he said 'You can't do that to my people'
He said 'Can't crush them under your heel'
Jayne strapped on his hat and in five seconds flat
Stole everything Boss Higgins had to steal
chorus
Now here is what separates heros
From common folk like you and I
The man they call Jayne he turned round his plane
And let that money hit sky
He dropped it onto our houses
He dropped it into our yards
But the man they call Jayne he stole away our pain
And left, out for the stars
chorus
Lets hope that the compete song with lyrics is avaliable as an extra on the DVDs

Hi SerenityValley,
You have a good start here with the song.
I can make some corrections:
Chorus: He robbed from the rich and he gave to the poor, stood up to the man and he GAVE HIM WHAT FOR
Our love for him now ain't hard to explain he's the hero of CANTON, the man they call Jayne.
Our Jayne saw the mudder's backs breaking, he heard the mudders LAMENT
**********
That's what I've got, everywhere you have "mothers" it should be "mudders"
I have the soundtrack to the show but too bad they didn't put this song on it. I guess I can try to record it off of the DVD, but there is dialog in there, oh well.

See the DVD easter egg of Adam Baldwin singing it for the bits that the crew talk over in the show. It's hidden on the more special features menu. I'm sure there's a thread around here somewhere saying exactly how to find it.

Hi Niknak
Shiney!
thanks for the response! I just found the entire lyrics on another site, ( www.chosentwo.com) Yay!
And thanks for the easteregg hint. Can you tell me where it is? Is it on the movie DVD or the TV show?
I'm having a party next month and wanted to have this song playing at some point.

kozmovashay, on the special features disc there's one that says Joss sings the Firefly theme song. Highlight that then click left on your remote, it takes you to the egg. Adam comes out, sits down, puts on his knitted cunning hat and belts out the tune, and in fairly good form. Hope you have fun at the party.
Jayne, the man they call JAYNE!
