I know those of us who like on thing tend to have similar tastes in other areas, but I was wondering if anyone else who posts here likes Ben Folds? He was my original obsession, before the 'verse and I still do love him. I hope I put this thread in the right place, since it is massively OT.

If not Ben, then who do you like? I'm sure it's impossible, but I am aiming for a concensus. I don't know if that's spelled right...

I liked him back when 'Folds Five where together. I'm heavily into Green Day, 3 doors Down, and Rammstein now.

Ben Folds solo work > Ben Folds Five

I love Ben Folds, I own pretty much everything he's ever done. What do you guys think of Songs for Silverman?

Ben Folds has a pretty much permanent spot on my playlist but I don't get obsessed with music like I do with Firefly :)

I like both his solo work and the stuff with the Five and I think it's overly simplistic to say that either one is strictly better than the other... there's a noticeable difference in style which makes them hard to compare. If I made a top ten Ben Folds songs list it would definitely include some of both.

His rendition of Dr Dre's "B*tches ain't sh*t" (hopefully that level of censorship is ok for this board) is sheer musical genius...

When I was younger, my mom and I had to drive downstate every week. Besides Paula Cole and the B52'S, Ben Folds Five was the only thing that occupied our tape player.

I loved it, after some time. It came out and then the next day my father dies, altering my perception of everything. It took some time for me to not relate the album to those things, especally Gracie.
I have been a fan for a long time, and Ben has been such a part of my life, it almost seemed natural.

Have you seen him live?
