'Ted' from Btvs was a pretty scary robot. Excellent villain too.

What about Johnny 5, from the 'Short circuit' movies? Especially when he turned evil!

Sonny from 'I robot'? Our very own Alan Tudyk!

I liked 'April' from Btvs. She was a tragic character. Loved it when she threw Spike through the window.

Um.. What about Robocop? Great character! The first movie was excellent.

There are the Cybermen from Doctor Who, and I can't forget the Daleks. Uh.. Can the Daleks be classed as robots? (The updated versions are kinda robotic.) Every kid and adult in the U.K hid behind the sofa whenever they came on screen. They're both classic!

If anyone's ever played Knights of the Old Republic, you'll know which one I'm talking about...I got quite used to being referred to as a "meatbag"...

She'll turn you in before you can say "Don't turn me in...lady..."

I don't know if mecha counts or not, but would assume it does. If so, I'd probably have to go with the Veritech fighter from Macross/Robotech.

Voltron might be up there too.

If wishes were horses, we'd all be eatin' steak.

Then the bots from MST3

You know, they tell ya to never hit a man with a closed fist, but it is, on occasion, hilarious.

1812 one of the more memorable DRDs from Farscape

****************************8
Tom: The men from 2nd Maine are being fed, sir.

Lawrence: Don’t call me sir.

Tom: Well, Lawrence, Great God A-Mighty–

Lawrence: You just be careful of that name business in front of the men. Listen, we don’t want anybody to think there’s favoritism.

Tom: General Meade has his son as his ajutant.

Lawrence: That’s different. Generals can do anything. Nothing quite so much like God on earth as a general on a battlefield.

I'd say HK-47 (meatbags, heheh, "shall I kill something for you, master?")

And most definitely Optimus Prime. Go Transformers.

And, now that I think about it, general Grievous was kind of a badass. I mean, FOUR LIGHTSABERS!?!?!?

And, if anyone out there is familiar with Megatokyo ( www.megatokyo.com, check it out) I'd put Ping in there too. "it has a secret program of ultimate destruction. All Sonys do."

My two favorites would have to be Marvin the 'paranoid android' from the Hitchhiker's Guide series and the Doctor from Star Trek: Voyager.

They both provide for interesting situations and conversations. XD

Oh, and yeah, Grievous kicked ass. Except that he died so bloody easily. He's got nothing on R2D2.

No love for C3PO on this thread, eh?

The Robot from Forbidden Planet was awesome, but does anyone remember that old disney flick, Batteries Not Included. Those miniature flying saucers were oh so cute......

AHEM (forcibly deepens voice) I mean uh....that IG-88 was pretty kick ass. Argh, growl.
