I won't say. You can punish me with taking away my Firefly. You can bribe me with pictures of Nathan. Nothing will make me talk except word from Aira that it's ok to share.

Okay fine- but promise that when you or whoever gets back from this thing to tell me every little detail! Including all the big surprises.

MalNourished and I are planning on many many pictures and probably a con diary of everything we're doing.

Everyone who's going, please visit the website and print out some of those posters to put up around town. We ALL want to have our surprises.

Started a thread on Canadianbrowncoats.com - hopefully will get some bites. Also posting on another fan site so maybe that will drum up more interest.
I know I'm stoked!

I'll be in Jaynes bunk

I'm hoping that I have some spare time to post flyers on my campus. Heck, I'll even post them at the local grocery stores. You never know, right?

Even if it's just the two of them, it's worth tryin' to go to. Never been to any of these things before, though. What're they normally like?

Wonder what all the buffy-fans will think, when a huge swarm of people in browncoats take over the place just 'cause the Captain and Jayne are there.

Dear Diary... Today, we were kidnapped by hill folk never to be seen again. It was the best day ever.

So does that mean you're going too, PoeandFaith?

I don't think the Slayers and Vamps will mind so much. We're all very shiny people. There have been more than a few cross-over actors into Buffy and Angel from Firefly.

Well, my article's done. I just need the okay from Aria and then I'll send it off on its merry to see who will publish it. I have a relative who works for one of the newspapers near Philly, so I'll see if nepotism really does work.

If Aria oks it, I'll post it on my blog here too. That way, if anyone wants to submit it to a campus newspaper, they'll be free to do so. Just make sure the byline remains the same.

A lot of the Buffy/Angel fans are also Firefly fans. Not all of them, but enough. There shouldn't be a problem, because we are very welcoming. :)

Here's the completed article:

Vampire Slayers and Browncoats
A SciFi Convention with Bite
By: ML McFadden

When faced with a poorly run event, most would complain, demand their money back, and never do that activity again. After visiting a very disorganized convention, a group of fans decided to do something different; they thought that perhaps they could do much better. Now in its fourth year the Moonlight Rising Convention is still going strong. A science fiction convention geared around the shows created by Joss Whedon, there will be fans of his Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel and Firefly television series in attendance.

Due to sweep into Bushkill, PA’s Fernwood Hotel and Resort from June 2nd through 4th of 2006, Moonlight Rising is shaping up to be good competition for even the massive, corporately run events. Previous guests in attendance included Anthony Stewart Head, James Marsters, Amber Benson, and Christian Kane.

Boasting an impressive number of guests for a convention of any size, some of the big names who are scheduled to make appearances for this year’s gathering are Nathan Fillion, Adam Baldwin, Amber Benson, Kelly Donovan, Stacey Scowley, Camden Toy, James Leary, Mark Metcalf, and Ken Feinberg.

Spearheaded by Arianna Ingemi, the committee who runs the convention is hard at work to bring the best experience possible. Plans are now being finalized for panels with the guests, Q&A sessions, fan panels, trivia, and autograph sessions. Like more European styled conventions, Moonlight Rising is also offering professional photo shoots during which fans can pose along with their chosen guest. Common Rotation, a musical group who is a frequent visitor to the Buffy and Angel circuit, is on the agenda as performing Saturday night.

So what makes this convention different than any other science fiction convention out there? You’ll see no corporate cold hand here. The people who organize it are focused on making sure that not only the paying customers are having a good time; they’re concerned that the guests have a good time too. When asked, Ms. Ingemi states that the organizers work hard, “so that the fans can have a little more interaction with our guests and not feel as though (everyone is) being rushed through the proverbial cattle call.”

It is every fan’s dream to be on a first name basis with their admired performer, but the convention organizers are very level headed about it. Ingemi tells of how excited the fans can get though: “Our first year we had one girl come up to the table to meet James Marsters…when she saw him in person she just started to cry and couldn't talk to him until we sat her down and gave her a glass of water.” Karla Steinhoff, co-chair of the convention relates a story a bit more risqué, saying that “…at the charity auction, (someone) jokingly asked Tony Head if they could auction his (rear end). (Tony’s) response was: ‘Sure, it’s for the children,’ and he offered a ten second grope. He ended up raising a substantial amount of money for the charity and gave the fans a fun convention memory.”

When asked, both women agree that it isn’t just the celebrities who make Moonlight Rising special. It’s the community and the fans themselves. Ms. Steinhoff conveys it adroitly: “The best part of working on Moonlight Rising is meeting the other fans. I have found over the past three years that the fans of Angel/Buffy and now Serenity are an intelligent, wonderful, giving group of people. They come from all walks of life, but they share a common love. Watching the attendees interact with each other and the guests is a tremendously rewarding experience and makes me think that we must be doing something right.”

Just a reminder:

General Admission does not include any photo ops or allow you to purchase entry into certain events. If you are looking to attend most events, consider a Full Membership or ask to be put on the list for a Premium Membership.

I'd recommend doing this as soon as possible before all the photo ops slots are taken.
