3 Greatest Movie Letdowns

I have to politely disagree! 
Van Helsing wasn't a high-quality movie, definitely. But it KNEW that it was cheesy, and embraced it, which made it very enjoyable...at least for me.
Oh, and Reloaded was kinda lame, but Revolutions was fun in the same cheesy kind of way. The reason so many people didn't like it was because it strayed so far from the philosophy of the original into more simplistic sci-fi. If you view it out of the context of the original, it's just a pretty cool science fiction.
That's my story, and I'm sticking to it.
My three disappointments:
1. Eraserhead & Lost Highway - Lumped together because they're David Lynch films that I was told were inspirations for the "Silent Hill" video game series. As such, I was expecting stylized-and-cool-yet-bizarre movies, from everything I'd heard and based on the games. Lost Highway was nearly unintelligible, and I honestly could not stand more than the first ten minutes of Eraserhead
2. Waking Life - It's interesting, the way he blends various forms of animation (most bizarre) and random interviews with people, but it just couldn't hold together. Maybe I need to watch it again and concentrate a little harder, but I dunno...
3. Revenge of the Sith - I know, the prequels are no good. I shouldn't have expected anything at all. But I kept hearing how Revenge "revitalized the series!" It didn't. And General Grievous could have been so much more. But at least the lightsaber fights were pretty cool.

Off the top of my head.
POLLOCK: It's this biopic by Ed Harris about Jackson Pollock the painter. Heard great things, felt completely ripped off.
GERRY: The first of Gus Van Sant's "Death" trilogy. Matt Damon and Casey Affleck wander aimlessly through the desert. That's the entire fucking movie. Apparantly, this warrants tons ofcritical praise. ELEPHANT was much better since it was actually ABOUT something, and LAST DAYS didn't really do anything for me.
CRASH: For 2/3rds of the movie, Paul Haggis was really onto something. But the way all the plotlines resolved themselves through coincidence and happenstance just seemed to "deus ex machina" for my tastes. And that last image of snow in L.A. is by far the most ridiculous thing I've ever seen in a movie. Frogs falling from the sky would be better suited than snow.
The movies that dissapoint me the most arn't normally the blockbusters, because they're so hit and miss. But the movies that dissapoint me are the critical darlings. The ones that have heaps of praise put on them, are called works of art and revolutionary and are analyzed academically and critically as treasures, but when I see them I feel ripped off. It's as if they're saying "Here's some random shit. Choke on that, fuckers."

Lost in Translation was an excellent movie.IMO.

NO NO NO!!!
Battleship Earth is quite possibly the most awesomely bad movie ever. Sure, it's cheesy, makes no sense, and has terrible lines, but its supposed to. Best camp movie ever.
The Brothers Grimm was a good movie, too. Ok the characters were nothing special, but it really brought out those child fairytales in the old style sort of way: not as entertainment, but as lessons and warnings. I loved the contrast between the fairytale atmosphere and the more adult aspects.

AZBROWNCOAT: That's what I thought as soon as I read the thread title - but now that I've had a moment: Episode One, A History of Violence and Sideways.
Sideways was decent, but too many people built it up for me before I saw it.
A History of Violence is the only movie I ever walked out of - it was that freakin' boring. And yes, I know it's supposed to be high-brow and artistic, but when I want that I'll go see a real film that's well done.

Lol :) David Lynch... yeah. David Lynch specifically tries not to have his movies make sense. I think if anyone tries too hard to figure out the "plot" to Lost Highway, their brain will explode ;p Still... it wasn't one of my favorites either, so I can't really disagree with you on that.
@Rabit: there was no second Highlander, what are you talking about? (snerk ;)There was the first film, the TV series, and for some reason they jumped all the way to Highlander 3, which wasn't all that great either. ;p (Though, yeah... Highlander 2 is one of those where I was wondering if they were TRYING to suck, it was so bad :)
