No more so than gorramn...

"I also hear that there's something called Firefly, which is either a canceled science-fiction television show or a new religion, I'm not clear on that. Either way, prayers for the resurrection are involved." – Lore Sjoberg

I'm almost through with the first season, and though the guy I'm watching it with also thinks its annoying and I did at first...I really got used to it after the end of the episode "You Can't go Home again" (its a two parter, don't want to give anymore away if you haven't seen it b/c it was great).

I understand though, I'm not exactly using it in my everyday vocabulary, but it seemed appropriate amongst us geeks.

Back to the best scifi ships, what about The Outrider from Shadows of the Empire? I think it should be right up there with the Falcon and I'm not sure whose cooler, Rendar or Solo.

One of the ship's I really like is from a Star Wars book. Not a film adaptation but a great story nonetheless. The ship is called the Sun Crusher. It's a small nearly indestructible vessel which fires resonance torpedos capable of causing a star to go supernova. Before anyone thinks this is a ripoff of Andromeda, the story was published in 1994.

In the book a young Jedi named Kyp goes all darkside and destroys several Imperial controlled solar systems to exact revenge on them for harming his family. Good stuff!

You know what I think it is? It seems out of place. The way they talk seems completely normal, and then they throw a "frack" in there. In Firefly they have a very different way of speaking, so when they throw in a "gorramn" or a "shiny" or some chinese, it sounds natural.

Can't believe no one's mentioned the Enterprise-E. I love the lines on that ship. She looks like she's in perpetual forward motion, even when she's standing still.

Curse your sudden but inevitable betrayal, Fox!

...what? No mention of the Sulaco -- the big bad marine ship from Aliens?

Granted, you didn't see a ton of the ship, but what you did see was a sleek amalgam of pointy hardware, antannae and big, big guns. Don't get much better than that.

Another ship that deserves a mention, the Event Horizon.

Serenity
Shadow ships. (Nothing, except maybe the Forbidden Planet Monster, has spelt such Bad News.)
Liberator
NSE Protector
White Stars
BIG Minbari cruisers
Star Furies
The USMC (I think) Harriers blowing up the bridge in True Lies. Great shot with the snaking rockets. (The New BSG stole that look wholesale when the Cylons gubbed the New Vipers.)
Anything Vorlon.
The Drop Ship from Aliens
