Don't feed him, River. Do what trolls hate the most. Tune him out. He doesn't exist. Ignore him.
I know he disrespects BSG because he knows that it will upset us, and we will come-a-runnin trying to defend why we like it. I know he does this for the sole purpose of getting a rise out of us. But I suspect (and I KNOW I'm right) that he watches AND enjoys the new BSG, he's just being what he is....a pig, and besides, you DO feed the trolls sometimes because if you feed them, they are in one spot and you can harpoon them. Ok dude I'll grant you that. I am, indeed, an asshole. And if in fact you were genuinely asking the question for the sake of discussion, then you have my apologies. I was figuring you'd give me a laundry list about how lame all the scifi shows I DO love are. It's exhausting having to deal with the bait-&-switch sneak attacks. And yes, each of the scifi shows I list(ed) has something retarded about them, but taken as a whole, the good tends to heavily outweigh the bad.
Don't mind River90210. She's president of my fan club (which as you might guess, is comprised of most of the people in this forum).
To finish up answering your question, the remaining shows I like are:
(1) "Most" of the Trek Cannon. I loved "Next Gen" ~was brilliant from beginning to end. I thought Voyager was decent.. started out great (great premise), then began to drag. I was about to quit watching it (as I did with new-BSG), but then they added the large-breasted Jeri Ryan into the mix (wearing a catsuit). Lust saved the day (and the show for that matter). Deep Space-9 for the first few years was just bareable. Sisko was weak and effeminant and the plot was overly-political and dull. Scriptwriters have probably never known a bonafide black military officer. It's a shame. I've served under many of them and they are strong fine men. But (3rd season I think it was), they had a change of attitude. Sisko shaved his fro, grew a goatee, and roared back to life ready to fight the dominion. No more mister milquetoast. And they added Worf (fuckin "A" ~ Klingons rule!). Enterprise was hideous. Final season was great, but everything else stunk like hell.
(2) Farscape ~ it was a trip down the weird and wild-side. If it was anything at all, it was unique. Strange at times, but overall was a great show. Note: here again, the show got axxed by scifi channel even though it was their highest rated show at the time. They promised the Jim Henson company a full season, and on short notice broke their promise. It ended terribly (leaving fans like me pissed). Thanks bonnie hammer. But, they wrapped up the plotline with PK wars which has to rank right up there with Star Wars in my book. What a friggin great show that was.
(3) Lexx. Which was just too weird to explain. Because of how bizarre (and utterly unique it was). The same reasons why it's weird are the same reasons I couldn't stop watching.
(4) Babylon 5 ~ which I only moderately enjoyed. Some people get all freaky over it but, I dunno, it was a decent show but didn't send thrilling shivers down my spine.
Ok, that covers everything in the past. Now the present.
(5) Stargate SG-1 ~ I absolutely love the first 8 years of this. It's one of the single best scifi shows ever put on the air. I'm not too sure I like where they're going in this last season (the "Ori" enemies replacing the defeated Goa'Uld are ok, but this whole King Arthur thing is just tacky as hell). Plus, after the way scifi chan whored the Farscape stars (Ben Browder and Claudia Black), it's nice to see the dynamic duo back in the saddle again.
(6) Stargate Atlantis ~ ok I've saved this one for last. I didn't much care for it in the 1st season, but I've slowly warmed up to it and this whole last season has converted me. This has rapidly become probably the very best scifi show I've ever seen on TV (with one exception).
Finally ~ the exception. Firefly. Although it was only 14 episodes, no scifi show ever made me fall so in love with it. Whedon definately found his calling. I hate that it's gone. But then, hey, such is the fate of scifi when it's in the hands of idiot executives and political hacks. Thankyou network and studio whores.

Listen to Frau Schnitzel-Knibblet and the scooby-doo crew.
Don't feed me. Especially not mortar and lime. Next thing you know, I'm like that bed-wetting "pig" in the 3 lil piglets story. I'm building a brick fortress (with mortar and lime) and become a wolf-slayer.
Don't feed me. Tune me out. I don't exist. Ignore me.
Do what I hate the most. Frau Knibblet is aristocratically wise in her ways and you would do well to follow her lead.

and PS ~ run, don't walk~ when you encounter people who sing to the sun and laugh at rain. Escaped mental patients (scooby-doo crew).

Okay has anyone figured out which two t-shirts i.e., manufacturer, color and style, are the ones the flight crews wear in Galactica?
I have some of my old Air Force stuff (including a bunny suit I can dye orange ... don't rat me out to Uncle Sam) but of course, none of it is the shiny whatever the heck it is stuff the flight suits are made of.
There's a big convention coming up this summer and when I'm not in the room hosting our Firefly party, I'd like to wander 'bout the hotel in 'Galatica Gear'. www.convergence-con.org
I can't even imagine walking around in the quilted stuff the actors wore in that 70's show. Yer like to melt into a puddle of sweat - not to mention being stalked by Amish ladies looking for fabric swatches.
For the Honor Harrington fans, David Weber is a guest of honor at Convergence this year.

I'm not trying to change the subject. Honestly I'm not. But I did want to ask this question...
Does anyone know if we're supposed to wear velcro or zipper bondage masks at this year's "Gay Biker Snuff Film" convention? I was thinking I might do a combo but I dunno know now? I'll be there when I'm not hosting the 28th annual alien abductee post-traumatic stress disorder help group.

Firefly has been cancelled. Battlestar Galactica won't be back on the air until October. What am I going to do? My Saturday morning ritual of getting up, downloading BSG while I make breakfast has been seriously interruped here. Are there any other shows out there besides SG-1 (I refuse to watch it!) that are worth my time to get addicted too?
Why do we have to
wait until October? Why not July?
What network
decided this?
I need a new show quick or somebodies gonna get their
kicked.

They're not currently in production so getting addicted might not be the best idea. Having said that, go look for the DVD collections (or hunt down VHS tapes) of ...
Monarch of the Glen (DVD - 4 seasons) - Scottish television show about Archie MacDonald, family and friends when he has to come back to the old family estate (GlenBogle) and take over as Laird.
China Beach - Vietnam experiences of MacMurphy (Dana Delaney's first starring role) and other nurses and doctors. It's also where Marge Helgenberger got her start.
Babylon 5 (DVD 5 season + movies) - One of my fellow Minnesota Independents (shout out to Mario) has loaned me the first season of Babylon 5. I'm through 5 of disks so far. It's not bad - He said to hang in there because of a 4 year story arc. I'm going to give it my best.
Coupling (BBC DVD 5 seasons). Not the pitiful American rip-off but the original British series. Be careful, when Steve begins one of his rants, you might laugh milk out your nose.

The only show "worthy" of your time is SG-1.
Least the 1st 8 years of it. Go watch that. Then watch SG-Atlantis. DON'T watch SG-A till you see the 1st 8 of SG-1. Can't love SG-A w/out SG-1. And SG-1 is loveable in spite of whatever stupid notions you have rattling around in that tiny brain of yours. Teal'c gets fuckin nuclear power-cool in season 8. Season 8 ep 7. Just watch you'll see.
Won't replace FF. Won't kill off the need for that next heroine fix, but it helps.
1 gay show a day. One day at a time. Achtung! 12 steppers can now goose-step with frau nipples and der skoobie doo krew (mach schnell!).

No such thing as gravity. Der "Urth" dat was... well der "Urth" ist nicht.
EDIT: Oh shit. I listed ep 3. I meant ep. 7 "affinity". Sorry was goin by memory. Sorry I don't have a friggin database in my brain. But I dounlechecked. Coolest damn ep of anything scifi ever if you take it in turn.

And PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE believe me on this one.
Go watch SG-1. Buy the DVD's ~ it's SOOOOOOO worth the investment. Wright and Cooper = fuckin genius.
More importantly... DO NOT watch the specific Ep I listed without seeing the whole thing. It won't be the same.
Trust me on this one. You'll see.
..and if you do, you'll watch SG-(A)tlantis and you won't be blown away as I currently am. It's up to you.
