Hi everyone,
Long time Firefly convert, first time threader. A friend sent me this link, basically it says that the Sci Fi channel has bought the rights to the show, here's the link. http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/article/ds30578.html

I might have gotten this wrong but I though it worth posting. Here's too hoping!!

Afraid it's just the rights to air the repeats, not new episodes.

Yeah, but still... you never know ;p At least it's a step in the right direction. (Look at Family Guy, which was also prematurely canned from Fox. DVD sales and the huge ratings it got from the repeats on Adult Swim brought that back to the small screen...)

So it's not exactly new eps of Firefly, but at least it's putting it on the air, and Sci-Fi channel is surely a pretty good fit for it getting some more exposure. ;p

But this is just SciFi UK, isn't it Nuclearday, or perhaps they are so affiliated I'm wrong about that. I know SciFi (in the US) must have already gotten the rights to air the reruns as they have been doing so.

Do you think this acquisition means that SciFi/SciFi UK might have some influence in the direction next taken for our 'verse? I'm saying this all wrong... I hope you are getting what I'm meaning. Since BSG is a joint UK-US thing, I wondered if this was a step in the right direction for that kind of collaboration on something for our 'verse.

Oops, lol... that's what I get for trying to read stuff before I've got my contacts in and had my coffee ;p

Still, I think I get your meaning. I'll take it as a step in the right direction. Gotta figure if it wasn't panning out with the reruns here in the US, they wouldn't be bothering with it elsewhere, right?

Looks like reruns only. BUT I'm definately liking the mention of PRIMETIME. Good time slots means more recruits.

I also like how Firefly gets lumped in with Star Trek. Means SciFi Channe's taking this seriously. They know it's a cash cow, they're probably just trying to get a ratings feeling for it.

I locked on to the Primetime adjective as well. It would make perfect sense to air the original series in primetime and then transition to a Sci-Fi original mini-series or ongoing series (see Battlestar).

Our 'Coats across the pond have bought us some hard fought ground...keep fighting my beloved Browncoats.

Mini-series... *faints* Okay, so maybe it is a bit of a jump, just from news of more FF reruns, but a BSG parallel does sort of make sense, huh? (Sci-fi show canned before it's time, loyal cult following... reruns to test the waters before a new mini-series followed by a regular series...) I'd so totally upgrade my cable package if SciFi Channel did something like that... Oh well, you can't fault me for being optimistic (read the signature :)
