Welcome in advance to Texas and to San Antonio. You'll love it! I've lived here all my life and can't imagine being anywhere else. I run the local group, Alamo City Browncoats. We're still trying to work on times and places to meet but I know it'll work out. We'd be happy to have you and your husband join us. I can also put in contact with some other fans...namely SW
Shame y'all won't be here for the city wide shindig called Fiesta...hehe
Again...WELCOME to the Alamo City!

Thanks for the invite to join you guys (and gals), Mel. That's nice that there's enough browncoats down there to qualify as a "group", and we'd love to meet with you all. Hopefully, we'll be settled in pretty quickly. We're going on a short house-hunting trip in May, so maybe we'll already have a house ready when we actually move down in June. But we could certainly stand to have some friends in the area. I can't wait to see all the fun stuff in San Antonio (you guys have your own Sea World? How cool is that?). It looks to be a good place to live, maybe excepting the summertime death-heat I've heard so much about.

LoneStar Shindig will be announcing another special guest just as soon as the guest is cleared with ApolloCon!

Jonestein,
I added my pin--the first for Pine Valley, Texas, even though I've recruited most of my neighbors. Heck, I made most of my neighbors play on the Big Damn Album. :-)
Melgo, do you mind if I join the San Antonio Browncoat Yahoo group? Living in Bastrop County, I get to run down to the Alamo City from time to time.
And for all the rest of you, I hope you'll excuse two little plugs:
First, come check out the Excalibur Fantasy Faire near Lockhart! It's our first year on the new site, and it's lots and lots of fun. There are a surprising number of incognito Browncoats hanging out there, too, and there's a good chance we might sing a few Firefly songs. Some we don't sing on stage at faire, but we can always step behind a booth.
Second, come support the Lonestar Shindig at Apollocon this summer. I know from first-hand experience that our hosts the Houston Browncoats are a bunch of really fun, shiny people, so I bet this event is going to be a blast and a half! California has the Flanvention, and we can't allow The Great State of Texas to be outdone by the land of fruits, nuts, and flakes (and I say that affectionately while dodging mugs hurled by my Californian wife).
Keep flyin',
Cedric

Moving to San Antonio. My advice, buy a road map now, study the road map. You'll find out why when you get there. Otherwise a a great town, I love it out there.
And welcome to Texas.

Hey all! I must thank Jonestein for the head's up. I'd posted on here when I first started the group but never heard from any others save the few of my converts. I'm glad Jonestein knocked some sense into me.
Meimeimeg, the heat is wild. I affectionately refer to it as San Antonio, A.K.A. Hell's waiting room...hehe But seriously, there are so many great things about this city that make you forget about the heat and humidity. I'm sure you all will love it.
Hey Cedric, we would be honored to have a Bedlam Bard in our lil' group. Please feel free to join up. I loved hearing music from the new CD on The Signal. You guys are awesomely SHINY!
The same goes for any non-San Antonians. Please join Alamo City Browncoats. We love meeting fellow Browncoats.

Will probably change venues down the road to mix things up, with some in Arlington in the near future.
Well, already changed the venue for next week's Weekly Shindig(Wed March 22). The Saucer is just too gorram crowded on Wed night because they give away beer glasses, so next week we're hooking up at the downtown FW Fox & Hound around the corner from the Saucer.
Just look for the weirdo playing with plastic dinosaurs, wearing either a Blue Sun shirt or an insolent Family Guy t-shirt w/Wash-like Hawaiian shirt.

Cedric,
Feel free to add events you want to plug on the Fort Worth Browncoats calendar ( www.fortworthbrowncoats.com) and the Texas Browncoats calendar ( www.texasbrowncoats.com).
Both groups are pretty new so there are not alot of members yet, but they will grow eventually and a plug is a plug.
Also be happy to plug events on the Texas Browncoats map...just lemmee know.
