Ahhh, Brisco County, Jr!
What a great show that was. And the allusions to modern day pop culture were priceless.

1. Bohler getting donuts from a kid named Duncan.
2. The professor building a derigible out of metal (A Lead Zepplin!)
3. A new weave of cotton that was stronger than steel (Blue Jeans)

Anyone remember any others? I have a good 15-20 episodes of this show on VCR tapes. I would love to convert them to DVD but I know the quality will suffer. Were these ever released on DVD?

Strange Luck with D.B. Sweeney was a great show too. The last episode I saw had him checking his account and finding someone deposited 1 million dollars in it. Where did that plot line go anyway?

Futurama!!! At least we have the four green-lit direct to DVD movies to look forward to now.

Come on, Fox! Where's the love?!

Does anybody remember 'Space: Above and Beyond'? I think it's been ten years since that show's single-season run - it lasted only marginally longer than Firefly, being aired on Sunday nights and always, ALWAYS delayed/pre-empted by football.

Between S:AAB and Firefly, a FOX contract is a death warrant for a character-driven sci-fi show.

Fox's first year on the airwaves also provided us with Fox's first sci-fi cancellation - the Alien Nation TV series. While it was based on the movie of the same name, the series delved much more into the social ramifications of integrating an alien race into American society and, of course, was able to explore the characters in much more depth.

To Fox's credit (there's a phrase I never expected to use) they did ultimately produce 5 Alien Nation movies, the first of which wrapped up the cliffhanger ending of the series.

This wonderful series was recently released on DVD. Hopefully the movies will soon follow.

Futurama and Arrested Development are absolutely brilliant. Arrested Development in particular got screwed, it had so much further to go!

But they make House and Prison Break which balances it out a little.

NB: Fox make American Idol - exactly how many more of these are there going to be?

I remember really enjoying Space. Haven't picked up the DVD cause I hear there are absolutely no extras. Just the episodes. No commentary or anything. Plus, I'd have to see the series again before buying it to make sure I still like it enough to spend the money. Firefly was still pretty fresh in my mind when I bought the DVD.

I once heard a quote that if someone had a channel made up entirely of shows cancelled by FOX in the first three seasons that it would be the best channel ever. I can't remember where I heard this but I have to say that I agree.

Andy Richter Controls the Universe was an awesome show. I rediscovered it not too long ago and watched all the eps again. I was literally crying because I was laughing so hard. It it the kind of humor I like and it got canned WAY too early. Definately worth a look.
