I'm getting ready to have sterling silver, high-quality pendants/charms manufactured for me. I have four designs under consideration, and I'd like to start getting an idea of the interest in each so I can tell how many to order and which designs will be the most popular. The minimum orders for this sort of thing are huge, so I need to get this right! I will sell the pendants individually and I will also use them heavily in my jewelry designs, so if you want you can have shiny necklaces and earrings and such made out of them.

Unfortunately I can't yet tell you the most important thing, cost, because the two manufacturers I'm looking at won't give me a quote on casting and weight and such until they see the graphics (which I have two awesome browncoats helping me with).

Here are the four potential designs:

a) A 3D Serenity (the ship!).....a mini model you can hang on a necklace, keychain, zipper pull, whatever. Will be the most expensive of the lot, because it will have a lot of solid silver in it (silver's priced in weight per gram) but also probably the coolest.

b) An outline of Serenity (the ship), sort of like the images used on artcat's decals or BubbaHoTep's signs (only different, of course, won't be ripping off anyone's design, but that gives an idea of the style).

c) The Serenity Chinese characters, probably sort of medium-sized so they could be used as either a pendant or earrings.

d) The round part of the Serenity logo, minus the word "Serenity" - sort of a stylized, decorative bit that could be used as earrings or a decorative pendant without marking you as a fangilr/fanboy to any but the closest observer.

If you are interested in any of these, would you be so kind as to post which ones take your fancy and roughly how many you think you might be interested in ordering? I won't hold anyone to anything, just trying to gauge interest:)

That sounds awesome. All four sound like good designs. Have you considered doing them in pewter as well? They would be considerably less expensive.

I did consider pewter, but after you factor in the costs for getting molds/casts/whatever made, the pewter ones actually would end up being pretty expensive. Might as well pay a bit more and get something truly high-quality.

Sounds great! I would most definitely purchase a pendant of the Chinese characters and/or the Serenity logo. Please keep us posted!

Definite interest. I like the 3D Serenity and the Chinese characters ideas. What I really want is a 3D Serenity pendant and little shuttle earrings!

I like the sound of A) and D) best. Not that the others sound bad. Just if all four were available, A & D would most appeal to me. They sound like excellent gifts. Do you have even a ballpark figure for A)?
