... are the networks crazy for not picking up this series? I'm watching the Firefly marathon on Sci-fi... it is only the second time I've ever seen the series on TV. And I think it is a tremendous show! All the crap on TV and this series didn't make it through the first season? I LOVE IT! The critics loved Serenity! What the $%@! is the problem??? Was Firefly the victim of a bad time slot? Bad promoting? I just don't get it!

You're definitely not alone.

Firefly is a great show.

Correct me if i'm wrong. I don't think Sci-Fi is airing all the episodes. I noticed they were missing Object in Space and a few other episodes that were available on the DVD set

Joss has said in many interviews that Fox didn't like the show he was making. They weren't supportive of his vision and they gave him crappy promotion and bad time slots with lots of preempting! It never got a chance, like Wonderfalls, which Fox pulled after showing only four eps! Television is all about instant gratification, if it's not a hit immediately, it seems that it's pulled before it can really start gaining momentum. It's all about the bottom line, there seems to be very little room for storytelling. Even HBO, which has had a stellar run with it's programmming is guilty of cutting off a story before it's time- Carnivale. With the insesant reality shows that are floating around tv these days, it's a wonder there are any shows that actually have actors and scripts in them!(although I am guilty of watching Project Runway, but that's because I sew and make clothes and I am obsessed with fashion, but that's the only one!). There are also trends with in television and at some point the tide will turn and maybe we will get quality television again. Some things come before their time, hopefully we can either look forward to new projects involving something of the Firefly 'Verse or at least get a new trend in tv programming!

I can appreciate that. Look at the rebirth of
Family Guy. I loved that show from day one and was really torqued when it was cancelled the first time. I really hope Firefly can get picked back up. Any idea how the Serenity did at the box office and with DVD sales? Ditto for the series DVD? If there was some money there, you'd think someone would notice... heh

I was a fan of that show from the beginning and was quite upset at how they handled it. I've been really enjoying the reruns on Logo. I've got bad luck when it comes to shows getting cancelled. I really liked the new show Love Monkey, but it was cancelled after just 3 episodes.

"Appears they've cancelled the show and we're still here. What does that make us?"
"Big damn junkies, Sir!"
"Ain't we just."

Mattcoz- My best friend has named me the Show Killer! I showed him Firefly and he really liked it, I even convinced him to go to Flan II with me. Then I showed him Wonderfalls and he was so upset that it had been cancelled! He hadn't even seen two eps before he looked at me and said, "I can't believe they cancelled this show! Can we write in to tell them to put it back on hte air?". I had to break the news that it had already been tried. I showed him Dead Like Me as well (by Bryan Fuller). He hopes Tim Minear is at Flan just to tell him how much he loved Wonderfalls. He watches it on Logo too! Some day there will be something good on television, and maybe it will get the chance it deserves.

Maybe he should blame Jewel instead of you, she was on all three shows, heh.

"But it’s my snake and I want it back!
The snake... that’s a penis reference right?"

lol
