I used to pride myself on my grammer. Very strict with my do nots and does nots. Never even used the slangs like don't.

I have definately reverted to AINT since I picked up Firefly.

You know you're obsessed when...

* Perfectly spoken Chinese curse words leak into your dreams. (I found myself saying 'Ho tze de pigu' in a dream last night.)

* You can't look at strawberries in the same way ever again.

* Blue profilactic gloves freak you out. (Especially when you spot them on those forensic tv dramas.)

* You quote light hearted, or witty remarks said by Mal, during tense or uncomfortable moments.

Wow, sounds like me.

We had to read Macbeth too, and it was wacky fun! My friend Wendi (fellow Browncoat) and I kept giggling too. Pointing out lines that could've fit with Mal. Did you catch the Macbeth parallel in the movie. Cause we caught it at our last viewing and felt all smart and stuff.

And my friend's sister's name is Miranda too. I spent the night at her house and kept looking at her like River looks at the screen ('cept downwards cause she's shorter) and whispering "Mir-an-da." Until my friend finally explained it to her.

As for the obsession part:
...price becomes less of an object when buying Firefly/Serenity stuff.
...you decided that you can only die after you go to Flan.
...you made the food kind of Flan today in Foods, and pray that the real Flan will be better. (ours kinda got messed up.)
...you're filled with pride when your dad, who is a huge movie critic, actually told a co-worker about Serenity.
...you get all manner of offended when someone says something bad about the 'verse.
...you get all happy when your teacher actually knows what your talking about when you ask her if she wants to the the movie. (which I lent her today, excitement)
...somehow, everything relates back to Serenity and Firefly.
...your mom tell you to stop sayin' 'ain't' so much. You reply, "No power in the verse can stop me."
...You accidently called the internet the cortex, and your mom knew what you were talkin' about.
...also, those walkie-talkie phones, are now 'coms.'
...you get disappointed when you wake up and don't remember having any dreams about the 'verse.

That's all I can think of that ain't already been stated. This would be my first real obsession, but it's the best obsession I'll ever have.

Serenity will fly again.

Obsessed? Not so much as folks'd notice. And not as obsessed as when I was a Trekker. But I consider myself a Browncoat.

But the gritty realism of Firefly's Verse has greater meaning to all of us working to make things work for our families!

Each new convert to the 'Verse is another voice of support: some are outright Bushwacked, others are converted more subtly.

Gorram, I love this shiny show!

As a native Texan, you have no idea how proud I am to see that the word "ain't" is becoming fashionable!

Ain't that just shiny!

"So I'm a coach for a girls volleyball team and we had a tournament this weekend. In one of the huddles I was encouraging the team, explaining some positional things blah blah blah. The whistle was blown to end the time out and I'm wrapping up and putting hands in the middle when I look at the girls and say "We shiny?""

How crazy do I look if I say I was using that word, in that context, BEFORE I ever saw Firefly?

I can kill you with my brain!

That's the beauty of it, it's very natural to say and actually makes a lot of sense. That's what I love about the dialog in Firefly, it's all so natural, even the Mandarin sounds natural because of how consistently it is used. It's ruttin' beautiful.
