FW's an easy hike from Arlington. Love the FW Flying Saucer, though not as much as the Arlington one that they closed down a couple years ago.
MAL: We're still flying.
SIMON: That's not much.
MAL: It's enough.

Nothing wrong with Yahoo groups...happen to like 'em myself. In fact, the FW group is a Yahoo group.
Hey, are you familiar with bigdamnboard.com? They have a local groups page and I didn't notice Austin on there:

Hey everyone!
I was excited to see this thread, because my husband and I just found out (about 95% sure, but you never know with the military) that we are moving to San Antonio this summer, probably June-ish. We don't know much about the area, but we can't wait to get down there. Are there many Browncoats close to the San Antonio area? (From what I understand, Dallas is about 5 hours away, right?)
Anyway, I think Texas will be a great place to spend a few years (although Colorado Springs, where we are now, will be hard to top =)) Hope to meet some of you down there!

Yeah, my husband and I might be the only two here, but two's better than none. ;-)

And here's a third. Woot!

Edit:
Or fourth, whatever.
Whoa McAllen, you're just around the corner from me. Shiney!

Well an early welcome to Texas!
Sounds like yall will be moving here just in time for the LoneStarShindig JUne 23-25 this is the big statewide event, being hosted this year by the Houston Browncoats
Special guest as I previously mentioned is Cedric of the bedlam Bards www.bedlambards.com
Activites include, big party Saturday night, meet and greet Tea part wtih some kind of hot cheese on Friday, a table top serenity RPG, and a Serenity LARP, we are still working on other stuff and this will be taking place at Apollocon soo there will be lots of general scifi activities as well!
Browncoats are the shiniest folks in the 'verse

Thanks for the welcome! That shindig sounds...well, downright shiny. We would LOVE to come to something like that. I haven't really met too many Browncoats out here, so I've had to convert a few myself to fill the need.
Still, never been to any kind of Shindig.
Hopefully we'll have found a house by then, so we can go. (crosses fingers and toes)

You'll like San Antonio, I lived there for a couple of years...it's pretty laid back, kinda like Austin.
Welcome to the Lone Star State!
