If you search around in the archives, you will find that this subject has been brought up and talked about in length. I personally think that River would wipe the floor with Buffy, but thats just me.

well i definile think river wouli kill buffy in seconds flat not just because she can read her thought and know her moves befor she makes them though with that alone she trumps buffy 10x over though its here stealth and deterity that we see in the FF and Serenity she could easly slip behind her and let a knife to her pritty little neack and make it run with blood befor she could even react............. she is just the best out of the two hands down she rules

I'm having a hard time conjuring up a good reason that they would be fighting each other. I could see them teaming up against either reavers or vamps or both but I don't see them throwing down against each other.

River would definitely beat Buffy
1. She's crazy- that means she's even more inventive than Buffy.
2. Who knows what the Alliance unleashed when they fiddled with River's brain "I can kill you with my brain" and yeah Ok Buffy has slayer talents but I still don't think it's enough to beat River.
3. plus buffy only has waxed about say 10+ vamps at max without help river on the other hand killed 3 fully aromed gurds in "war stoires" with her eyes closed and say 20+(being generous really about 30 or 30+) armed reavers

i rest my case

earlysummewr you poor fool sorry for the harshness but i sujest you go back too the film just saying marianda does not trigger river to kill every thing it was a subliminal message code that has to be read so unless buffy some how has time to say every last bit of the message befor river kills her wich is less than 10seconds that would not work noob.........

You're going about this all wrong. Buffy gets Giles or Willow to magic up the safe word(phrase), uses it, then finishes River quick and clean.

Seriously though, Buffy wins every major fight she's in. Kill her and she just comes back more pissed off than she was before.
