Excuse me, but isn't that a little rude... you know, making a video with the same show and song that someone else has used? I mean, it's one thing if you use the song for different television, but even that's pushing it. Go check out the one I'm familiar with:

I wouldn't call it rude, all materials (music and video) belong to neither vidder, so I'd say it's up for grabs. And who's to say (besides the vidders themselves) if these vids happened independently of each other with neither vidder knowing anything of the other, or if one came later, still unknowing of the other's existence, or knowing but wanting to put a different spin on it cuz the "original" didn't satisfy them creatively?

The only thing that I would say could be rude (and downright wrong and punishable by flaming monkeys) is if a vidder took another vidder's work in part or whole and incorporated into their own and passed it off as being solely edited by them.

As far as vidding etiquette, I think it's hoped that songs will not be beaten to death, within a genre and even across many genres. But it's certainly not rude. Godsmack's "Serenity" is a highly apt song for Firefly and Mal specifically (almost *too* apt! Are they fans?) and I'm frankly surprised that there's not more vids making use of this song.

Anyhow, I know the original request for vids is more than a year old, but I thought I'd throw this out there, in case anyone hungry for vids hasn't found this yet:

What’s rude Li’l Embassy is not having the common sense to consider that these videos are made by two separate authors unfamiliar with the other; also rude, is to condescendingly approaching one of the authors who incidentally creates his videos for its viewers and not for himself and claiming that he was rude.

Well, the daughter of Embassy huh? I really respect all that your father has done for me. I have no website to host my videos and he is being very kind to host them for me.

Mistakes happen, and I’m sorry there was a misunderstanding. Truthfully though, when I found out that there was another video of Serenity I was pretty upset with myself.

However, it was an honor to meet you. I just may have to take the time and create a video especially for you.
