Why Don't Reavers Kill Each Other

So I have been trying to answer this question for my Significant other and I was hoping for some imput. Why don't Reavers kill each other if they're such savage beasts?

Who says that they don't?

Just because they can co-operate with eachother at one time to fulfill an objective, doesn't mean that they have a kindness to eachother all the time.

But, if we consider them animals (I AM NOT AN ANIMAAALLLL!!!.... sorry ), I believe that there are a number of species that they could be related to.

There would be a leader of the pack, which would be determined by fighting and kept by fighting. Winner gets the goal. Which doesn't have to be to the death, but hey, what do I know? I ain't a Reaver.

This would go all the way down the "food chain" to the weakest Reaver.

I hope that my tiredness didn't interfer with the above (I wish I could sleep).

I imagine others might have a differing opinion.

This has been speculated on before..then again what hasn't. I believe the probably would during times when the hunt is slow, but as long as there or others to prey on they don't. This is the similar phenomenon that we see when countries unite during times of external threat or common need, but fall apart and turn on each other when that disappears. I suspect that the only way all religions and ethnicities in the U.S. will ever get along is if we are suddenly threatened by a Canada/Mexico coalition.

Reavers, are humans reverted to their PRIMAL form, pure and simple.

They show the basic necessities of life. Food (canabalism) shelter (the boaring of other ships)and procreation(through rape). they also exhibit the necessity of clothing, (Zoey implies they use human skin for their clothes) as well.

The Reavers, though now completely untouch with their civilised human side, are still capable of living together and working together, just as cavemen were able to work together to hunt Mammoth (starring Summer Glau ;D). It's also not impossible that the Reaver's are bale to relearn basic human instincts like team work and how to use weapons, fly ships, use tactics to hunt humans.

I think George A. Romero's living dead series explains the nature of the Reavers pretty well, as it pretty much runs along what Iv'e just said. Think of it as man being reborn right from day one then evolving again.

plus, it prolly isn't too much fun killing other Reavers. I bet they don't scream in terror or nuthin'. it's worth it for them to work together to find unspoiled prey.

I like the idea of an "Alpha Reaver", makes sense. Head of the pack, so to speak, proven effective by his prowess in combat. I just feel so sorry for the guy at the other end of the chain. We'll call him, "Brett", because I have a friend named Brett who's a total loser. Poor Brett, what do you think happens to him when they can't find any regular folk to rape and eat?

Have you ever:
Used your teeth as wire strippers?
Given yourself stitches?
Made improvised munitions with no base supplies?
Pissed in a canteen?
Gone a month without bathing?

If so, you MIGHT just be a !HOOAH MOTHERF*CKER!

I really think the most significant reason isn't so much the whole deal with pack mentality and wanting to accomplish a specific, primal obective. But, it has more to do with the nature of their psychosis.

The thing Joss (or Minear?) always wanted to remind us is that Reaver's aren't stupid. They're psychotic. Figure on what the PAX did to them: hyped up their aggression and all their violent instincts. Reaver's have the same traits that regular humans do, just that certain aspects are deadened (empathy, mercy, etc.) and some are emphasized (lust, power, hunger).

What I've always figured is that Reavers have an intense desire to 'despoil' anything pure and clean. It's why they cut on themselves and desecrate their flesh. It's why they torture and slice apart their victims while they're still alive. They want to ugly things up as much as possible.

Say, you know that slight desire you sometimes get to drag your feet through clean snow without any tracks in it? Kind of like that, 'cept about a hundred million times more extreme.

So yeah, Reavers don't just want to kill. They want to inflict pain and destroy. The folks on Miranda who succumbed to the PAX didn't cry out; they just lay down and died. No fun in that, so nothing for Reavers to do. The Reavers themselves desecrate their own flesh already, and they delight in pain. That's the big reason they don't kill each other. KF

Reavers started out human, but I always got the jist, that they were almost like zombies, ie, feeding and killing on "normal humans" like in a zombie movie. In a zombie flick they don't kill or feed on each other, they always want "human " flesh. Just my take, and I am a huge fan of zombie movies.... sorry, but they are fun!!! (also, i understand flying a ship is way above zombie intellect, plus they have the radiation...)

And "Reavers never lie down." Maybe they never sleep which would just make them more psychotic.
