You start referencing FF/Serenity scenes as analogies for real-life moments.
Example:
I was explaining to my wife how I felt about a potential employer contacting me about wanting to move forward in the interview process because I was basically their only candidate.
First thing that popped into my head during this explanation was the Simon/Kaylee scene from "The Message", where Simon is trying to give Kaylee a compliment, but as usual, flubs it by saying he likes her because she's basically the only available female on the ship.
S'plained to the wife that I suddenly felt like Kaylee in said scene...got a big laugh.

-- you're driving in heavy commuter traffic, trying to decide whether to change lanes, and say to yourself, "No, I'm all right." And that's instantly followed by, "I'm all right."

I don't disagree on any particular point.

When running errands, this song by Grand Funk Railroad:

comes on the radio and you are amazed that it seems as though the lyrics were written specifically about Mal for the Firefly/Serenity video that is playing in your head.
MAL: We're still flying.
SIMON: That's not much.
MAL: It's enough.

....while you're driving on the highway, and a big rock gets kicked up and plants a BIG crack on your windshield, and instead of cursing or screaming you quietly say "What was that...?"

... you dream that Mal brings you pancakes in bed - and when you wake up you can't help but look around for them. When you don't find them, or him, you proceed to cry hysterically for ten minutes - before your mother runs into the room and, instead of asking you what's wrong - she just puts "Shindig" on.
... the proudest moment of your life was when your six year old cousin replies to your wish that the rain would stop - "Well, I'd like to be king of all Londinum and wear a shiny hat."

you named your Pitbull Zoe(y)
Honestly, she got that name before I knew about firefly, but it's very existential don't you think? (grin)

...you squeal loudly when you see that one of your IGCSE English Mock exam questions tells you to 'write a story set in the future.' And write a story which has characters named Mal and Summer, and a spaceship named 'Serenity.' And then you get an A + for it...

On a down-day at school you give your students (and yourself) a treat by showing them the first episode.
. . . Now I have a list of students wanting to borrow my DVDs!
Soon, the whole high school will be using words like "shiny"
(does "Gorram" count as swearing in class and do I have to send them to the office?)
