I finally got an IRC server up and running for test.

The server is: irc.fireflyfans.net

Let me know how well this works out for you all.

Thanks Haken.

You are spoiling all of us. No more screen refresh, and multiple frames.

Now we have a server all to ourselves. Now if we can just talk FOX into giving us something to talk about we'd all be very happy.

I agree, IRC is much better. It's also quicker and won't put a huge burden on everyone's browser.

I think that since we've shown ourselves to be the best of all fans through our dedication and sheer loveliness, Fox should send us all the episodes as soon as they're ready. What better way to promote the series than to have such a fantastic group of people pre-viewing and reviewing the episodes?

Unfortunately, FOX has historically not taken advantage of what the online fan community is able to offer in promoting its shows. I would like to think that things have changed at FOX with Firefly because of Whedon's involvement, but recent curtailing of spoiler postings and the likes byt FOX within the BtVS and Angel online community suggests otherwise.

True about FOX, but Joss hates spoilers so with Joss and FOX working together on that (if they are) spoilers may be hard to come by. I suspect that in other areas of fan support and interaction, though, (like FOX Firefly allowing - even encouraging - links from that site to this one, which they don't usually do) I think things will be better.

I hadn't realized that in the past FOX did not encourage links from their sites to other sites. That somewhat goes against what the internet is. Though, I guess it only makes sense. The official site probably cost FOX a nice chunk of change to build and maintain. I wonder how large their Firefly "web development team" is.

Here, as you know by now, we have a development team of 1. And a whole lot of nice and generous people who support this site with their time by participating.
