Just read a great announcement of the Firefly DVD from the DVDTalk newsletter:
"We're jumping for joy over Fox's announcement for Firefly: The Complete Series. Set for release on December 9th Firefly: The Complete Series will be presented in anamorphic widescreen with Dolby Digital 5.1 audio, contain 15 episodes of the series including 3 which never aired and feature: Audio Commentary on at least 1/2 of the episodes, 'Here's How It Was', 'Serenity: The 10th Character' and a Tour of the Firefly set with Joss Whedon, deleted scenes, audition footage, and a gag reel. If you've never heard of Firefly then we definitely advise you to check this DVD set out, if you're already familiar with the show then you're probably as excited as we are about the DVD (and feature film now in development). Pre-Order Firefly at DVDEmpire."
DVDTalk must reach thousands of people. I felt a real shot in the arm that our favorite show is getting this type of publicity.
It made me wonder how we can help publicize the Firefly DVD. Do we have newsletters? Email lists? Christmas card letters?
On the other hand, should we be advertising for those nitwits who cancelled our show?
Any thoughts?

Keep in mind you wouldn't be advertising for the nitwits that cancelled our show. They are 2 different companies (or 2 divisions of the same parent company). You would be advertising for the same company that releases Buffy and Angel, and those shows were not on FOX.
But regardless, spreading the word could be good for both the DVD sales and the movie.

EDIT: Mostly what RHUTTNER said. They're separate companies in the same media conglomerate. In sum:
Mutant Enemy (creator): good
Universal Studios (movie): good
20th Century Fox Television (owner/licenser): good
Fox Home Entertainment (DVDs): good
20th Television (likely oversees syndicator): good
Fox Broadcasting Company (1st airer): good at first, quickly bad
So advertise all you want, unless you hate the parent company, News Corp., or boss Rupert Murdoch enough to keep Firefly's profits down. I hope not.
