I prefer the term "Extremeists" to "Fundamentalists" but that's because I know people that would call themselves Christian Fundamentalists, but would never dream of bombing an abortion clinic or doing anything crazy like that.
But I agree with you. It's the extremeists that ruin it for the rest of us.

Poena Letum (Vote Fascist for another term of total law enforcement):
1. Max Wall of the Poena Letum National Purity League says "These illegal aliens are just an eyesore with their strange customs and funny languages. Uneducated immigrants like these only worsen crime and steal valuable jobs! I say we should boot them all out on their ears and put a big fence around the country!"
2. Naki Rifkin of the Poena Letum Civil Liberties Union says "We must welcome these refugees from any nation into our open arms, they are fleeing one oppressive dictatorial regime in the only way they know, we must not let them think they're jumping from the frying pan into the fire!"
3. "Hold on there, hold on people!" says Freddy Christmas of the Poena Letum Broadcasting company, "We don't have to take either extreme, all we have to do is make a TV game show out of it! We put deadly obstacles on the border and monitor it with television cameras! Those that make it across win freedom and citizenship, and those who don't, well, lets just say that our buzzards won't starve. We could call it 'Who Wants to be an Immigrant?'!"
I'm going for number 3, it's the only fair way...

The medium-sized, corrupt government juggles the competing demands of Defence, Law & Order, and Commerce. Citizens pay a flat income tax of 16%. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Uranium Mining, Book Publishing, and Automobile Manufacturing industries.
Birds and children's kites are regularly brought down by anti-aircraft fire, the country has been 'going shopping' by annexing nearby nations for their resources, eight year-olds with lemonade stands have been known to be locked up on charges of embezzlement, and shanty towns are forming in the suburbs of major cities. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is relatively low, thanks to the all-pervasive police force. Poena Letum's national animal is the snake, which is also the nation's favorite main course, and its currency is the poena.
Poena Letum is ranked 18th in the region and 535th in the world for Most Corrupt Governments.

It's easy!
Eliminate political freedoms and civil rights. Let buisness, the police and millitary do whatever they want.
Always attack weaker nations, but only if they have plenty of land and resources.
Only ever do something if they offer you a bribe. If two bribes are offered take the cash and do something else, or do what the person who gave you the biggest bribe wants you to do.
