$9 million in rentals?! That makes my day. My prediction was that it will take a year from when the DVD came out for Joss to announce he's working on a sequel. In a year a lot of DVD's can be sold and rented. A lot of merchandise can be sold. A lot of money can be made.

I don't think just making it to the black is enough to make another movie. I think now we need to step up our efforts for a sequeal. If we now start buying more Serenity DVDs we might get a sequeal. I don't think Firefly much of an impact now it's all about the offical Serenity products, like the DVD, the novelization, the Margaret Weis Production Role Playing Game and the Comic book or Trade papperback. I think the Serenity DVDs are most important thing to get us a Sequeal. It's the U.S.A. that need to do most of the work too, which is fitting since we in the US fail the movie Serenity the most. I think if the other countries go to Amazon.com (US site) and buy Serenity it might have an effect too. Also rent the DVD too from Blockbuster or an equally big video store. Good Luck to us all.

I think you are right. We are in the second wave now. I think the third wave will be when they release a "Shiny Edition" and then we better go buy it too. Hopefully by that time our recruiting efforts will have made some more Browncoats to buy with us.

But it's up to us whether or not there is a sequel. We have to show Universal that we want more. That requires money spent. Letters written. And being active members of this board or others and speaking up.

We have to make them understand that there is a market out here for their product. Then we WILL get more.

This is wonderfully shiny news!
This has gotten my hopes up no end. If it's made this much money already, imagine what it can make in the weeks to come. I reckon we'll get a sequel, eventually.
