Eh. Sore Thumbs isn't really 'up there' as far as webcomics are concerned, if you ask me.
I mean, come on, Penny Arcade is likely the most-read webcomic out there. And those guys are avid fans, too--maybe not as avid as us, but still.
I don't find it offensive. Just it tries to be funny like Doom tried to be metaphorical (meaning the movie, not the game). KF

Lord, I'm walking your way. Let me in, for my feet are sore, my clothes are ragged.
Look in my eyes, Lord, and my sins will play out on them as on a screen. Read them all.
Forgive what you can and send me on my path. I will walk on until you bid me rest.

Exactly. I don't see the problem either, maybe because I am not a joss Whedon fan. It's just a comic after all.

And a fairly poor comic at that.
Besides, who here hasn't felt like 3/5 of a human being when the execs axed Firefly.

Personally I take this comic with a sens of gratitude. Bad things are not copied and not bitched about. Just proved once more that the thing is worthy. The best praise comes from the one who opposes you.
Keep flying.
Doffe.

I didn't really find it funny, but I'm not offended in any way. Serenity in 2000 words was funny, this was just kinda lame. But, A for effort.
"I'm having one of those things - a headache with pictures."
"Of course I'm right. And if I'm not, may we all be horribly crushed from above somehow."

Lighten up, guys. Funny or not (matter of taste), it's just a comic.
When Browncoats start freaking over little stuff like this, is when people start to mentally associate us with the kind of Star Trek fans that get married in full Klingon atire.

I got a chuckle out of it. Nothing to get all 'torches and pitch forks' over, honestly.

This is good news... it means that this obscure little film is hitting the big time into mainstream comedy..

First.. yeah, chill. It's just a comic. It's not like it's a picture of Mohammad with a bomb for a turban or anything. ;)
And the 3/5 reference is important. Those of us who are Americans really should have recognized it on sight. It's in the Constitution.
Quote:
(Representatives and direct Taxes shall be apportioned among the several States which may be included within this Union, according to their respective Numbers, which shall be determined by adding to the whole Number of free Persons, including those bound to Service for a Term of Years, and excluding Indians not taxed, three fifths of all other Persons.)
In other words, prior to the 14th Amendment, a black slave was worth "only 3/5 of a person" for purposes of assessing population.
