I just want to see right after it, you know? When River runs over and hits the button to open the blast doors. Then runs back to the middle of the room and poses so that the rest of the crew can see her as the purple bellies blow the wall behind her. That scene turns all manner of funny when you think of what had to happen on her side of the door in order to get that shot.

But did not Kaylee suggest that she could "rig 'em so they won't re-open once they close"? She is phased when she hears that Wash "ain't comin'", but she is later seen doing something with bits of wire just before the "You mean to say .. as .." exchange with Simon.

So we have to assume that whatever caused the blast doors to open, it was not River pushing a button. Sorry - it was going to be a nice scene. My money would be on the Alliance activating a security fail-safe.

A sensible assumtion wud be that the alliance override all the doors or hack in to the system or sum such.

If they are goin to storm the place makes sense that they wud open all the odrrs dont it :-D

Yeah, in addition to removing all of the obstacles therein, it would have a psychological affect on the BDHs etc. etc. causing disorientation momentarily stemming from the sudden shock of the doors in front and behind you opening for apparently no reason, not to mention that the Purplebellies might be behind, above, or below you.

If anyone gets nosy...Shoot em.
Shoot em sir?
Politely.

Select to view spoiler:

During the end battle sequence when what is left of the crew tries to barricade themselves behind the blast doors in the hallway leading to the elevator (or as someone in the movie says, the "lift"), Zoe asks Jayne how much ammunition they have left. He responds: "Three full mags and my swinging cod". At least, that is what I *think* he says (I did not check the subtitles). What in the world is a "swinging cod"? Is this an actual weapon or is he making a joke? Also, did I miss it or did Vera not make an appearance? Jayne has that massive machine gun that almost looks like a minigun but I never saw a clear shot of Vera anywhere.

Any clarification would be of great help. Thanks!

Well..the cod part's been covered (he's talking about his John Thomas here, ladies), but about poor Vera.

Now...supposedly I heard or read somewhere that the gun Jayne has with him on Haven the second time and on Miranda (looks like they modded out a HK MP5 with one-piece stock) was Vera, but I somehow dobut Vera went from being a bruiser of a weapon (series prop had at least .50-cal bullets for ammo) to something that fires pistol ammo.

My personal theory is that Jayne went with a weapon better suited for the kind of opposition the crew was gonna face, as Vera is more a long range sniper's weapon than a CQC (close-quarters combat) gun. And honestly....Vera seems to much of a cheat to use against Reavers...the firepower and acceessories she caries ("autolock" seems to denote target-following ammo like mini-missiles) would be overkill for a Reaver.

Vera is based on a particular type of combat shotgun which has a folding stock. I assume that image is of the prop with the fake Barrel removed.

As an aside we probably never see Vera because it's not a working prop.
