I disagree.

(Feel obligated to disagree with Dream every so often, just to keep things "normal")

Wait! what is that? Over there. No, not there, over here. See it?

Oh, never mind. It's nothing.

Yes!! There was definitely something over there, 'cause I stepped in it.

First, I get promised a cookie that never materializes (in that other thread), now I come into a nonexistant thread and step in something.

Well, what's the essential nature of a thread? What, exactly constitutes a thread?

On the dualist view, you need two things to have a thread: digital space and coherent conversation. Without both, it's not a thread.

But on the reductivist view, all you really need is digital space. Since the conversation can't happen without the digital space, and since the conversation moves within the digital space, the conversation isn't really an independently existing thing at all, but merely an expression of the state of the digital space.

So really, the question to ask is, are you a dualist or a reductivist?

If this isn't a thread, where are we?
