With the happy posts of newbies ( ok, new recruits) coming in from time to time, it suddenly dawned on me that our ranks must be growing to quite a decent crowd. Still, things happen and folks often drift off to find other areas of interest. Does anyone know of a once hardcore fan that may have strayed from the Firefly 'verse? And if so, why did they get lost ?

People love a happy ending. So every episode, I will explain once again that I don't like people. And then Mal will shoot someone. Someone we like. And their puppy. - Joss

I'm a bit new to the 'verse, but I'd have to say, whenever anyone watches the series with an open mind, they are addicted for life. I haven't converted too many yet but even my friends that are veteran Browncoats since the series first aired, they still love FF/Serenity. Perhaps one reason to lose love for it all is hopelessness that the we'll never see more. It seems that most of us don't know how to give up though.

Well, I recall Gunhand. He promised to return when he could (real life pulling him away), but that was long ago. I hope nothing untoward has happened to him.

"Once you've been in Serenity, you never leave, you just learn to live there."

Once you're a Firefly fan, you never really leave you just... well you know.

I'm a new recruit but I don't think the 'verse will ever stray far from my liking.

I guess if we mean ex-Browncoat as someone who used to be a fan and is no longer, I don't know of anyone like that. But if we mean someone who used to be around the online (or otherwise) community a lot and is no longer... I know a couple. Including possibly myself. Except I've proven that wrong by posting this.

Folks might get lost in the black for a bit, or just be outta reach of the post, but when we need them, when we call for reinforcements, they'll be here, just like always.

Just the way of things out here on the raggedy edge, I guess. Once you find Serenity, you never leave.

I think there was a poster here, that was pretty pessimistic about the show coming back. And he voiced this opinion in front of a newbie and some people got upset. He said he was leaving and would do no further posting. Course someone leaving Fireflyfans.net does not an ex-browncoat make.

I don't think anyone who ever loved the 'verse has ever left the 'verse. I'm sure there are people who liked FF, but became uninterested or distant over time, never to come back. This isn't a true Browncoat.

If a true FFF gets temporarily distracted by other aspects of life he is no less of a fan. A true Browncoat never takes off his brown coat. Sometimes he just forgets he's wearing it

Come on, another name for an ex-Browncoat is Former Breather.
