Now that the server upgrade for the site has been completed, I'll be making some additions and changes to the Blue Sun Room as well as adding a Weblog for members on the site. If you have any requests for changes or for features you would like to see, please let me know and I'll see what I can do.

A while ago you mentioned you might make it possible for us to post art on the site. If possible, this would be a great feature for the Blue Sun Room. Thank you!

I dont know if this is possible or too much work for the benifit..
but, one of the sites I hang out on..
http://start.prodj.com/

has a very nice feature.. You can "view posts since last visit"..
doesnt sound that great, I know.. but I find myself using it everytime I go there, and it does save a lot of time..(and maybe even saves some bandwidth)
:)

Just my 2 Cents.

I already have something similar on when viewing a thread, but it's rather temporary in the sense that if you viewed the thread twice while you're online, it'll switch from "posts since last view" to "posts as of today." But if someone was to post a new message while you're online, it'll switch back to "posts since last view" and show you the message that was recently posted since your last viewing of the page.

But I'll consider it as the change is not very difficult to do.

your right, I guess there is very little difference..
for me I guess, the biggest difference was "the latest posts" just shows the name and time.. maybe you could add the thread title also?
(i find myself wondering all the time if i have already read that thread.)

thanx either way!

Just my 2 Cents.

Would a modified linear thread view be better?

Currently the Linear Thread view displays all messages posted on a particular day. I could add one where it'll display all messages since your last visit to the site.

The current linear thread view is here, if you haven't seen it before:

http://www.fireflyfans.net/linearthread.asp

The only problem with the linear thread, at least for me, is the lack of context when the messags are jumbled together. Though, many users seem to like it as evident by the number of times the linear thread page is loaded each day.

I was thinking about this (always dangerous me thinking).
And I realized the biggest difference is a person doesnt really know if they have already viewed a thread already.

For example at prodj.com. it highlights if the person has read a thread or not. Once you click on a thread of interest it loses it's 'highlight'. It stays that way untill someone posts to the thread (sometimes minutes, sometimes days). So a person naturally skips any threads without the 'highlight'.

The delphi/prospero boards do the same thing, just in a different way..(and added some stuff like 'high interest etc')

Of course, something like that would probably require some major changes?

Just my 2 Cents.
