Basically season four would have ended with The Face of the Enemy and the last few episodes of season four would have played out during the early parts of season five.

Apart from that Ivanova would have been the one who ended up with Byron instead of Lyta and they would have used Sheridan's use of the shadow telepaths in the civil war as the catalyst for the colony's rebellion rather than the knowledge that the Vorlons created all telepaths.

Additionally Day of the Dead would have been pushed back to after the telepath arc and would have focused more on the resolution to Ivanova's story where she partakes in the ritual hoping to be reunited with Byron but is visited by Marcus instead and is forced to come to terms with her grief for him.

Apart from that the season is not that much different to the one we got, yes it gets to the point a little quicker and contains no stand alone episodes because of the absence of the remnants of the civil war arc but almost all of what happened in season five was always meant to happen.

That's intersting because recently JMS posted the original treatment for Crusade and Marcus was supposed to be a part of it. It seems like if Claudia hadn't left that Marcus might not have been written off as well. I would have loved to see conversations between Marcus and Galen. That would be utterly fascinating to watch.

RE: Farscape

The first season is actually quite good, especially towards the end. If you can get past the few 'weaker' episodes near the beginning it really takes off.

'Premiere' is a must see episode just to get a grasp on the backstory of the characters. The next must see is 'Pk Tech Girl' and from then on it is pretty much a roller coaster ride to the end of the season.

Mind you, I am not knocking the episodes between 'Premiere' and 'Pk Tech Girl' there is a LOT of character development that goes on, and some really funny stuff. Good dialogue too. But the writers/actors/directors suddenly seem to snap into focus after PK Tech Girl.

Farscape does not talk down to their audience and tends to move really fast. A lot like a couple of other shows I could mention... Firefly, Buffy, Angel....
