I just noticed that Serenity has been nominated for the Golden Schmoes Award (yeah, not the Oscars, but anyway...)

Serenity - Most Underrated Movie of the Year
Best Sci-Fi Movie of the Year
Biggest Surprise of the Year

Nathan Fillion - Breakthrough Performance of the Year

Voting opens in 3 days, at http://www.goldenschmoes.com/

So, show your support!

"Oh no what could it be? We're all going to die. Who's flying this thing? Oh right, that would be me, back to work"

Okay, I must remember to vote first thing tomorrow, then.

Still... there's a couple categories where I see a noticeable lack of Serenity:

Best Supporting Actor: Okay, Mickey Rourke rocked in Sin City, but... really. That's Mickey Rourke as "Mickey Rourke with some really good makeup..." I'm just going to pretend Chiwetel Ejiofor's in that spot instead, 'cause I've never seen him in a movie where he didn't totally impress me.

Breakthrough Performance: Let's be reasonable here. Haven't seen Hustle and Flow yet, but I hear it's really good, and Terrence Howard seems like a really good actor, but... Summer SO belongs there. (Not to mention I don't remember who Cillian Murphy played in Batman... was that Scarecrow?) Still, Nathan's up for that one. So I'll just bump Christian Bale (hard, cause I really liked that movie, but...) out of Best Actor and put Fillion up there. That way Summer can be in that spot and Terrence Howard gets his two slots.

Favorite Celebrity: Blah...

Coolest Character: Constantine? Uhm... Keanu Reeves doesn't look anything like Constantine (who looks kinda like Sting...) And he's Keanu Reeves. Where's Jayne Cobb in there?

Best Music: Well, okay... Walk the Line has my vote. I own the Serenity soundtrack and listen probably too much. But David Newman isn't Johnny Cash. Even when Johnny Cash is Joaquin Phoenix.

Best DVD: Batman Anthology? Oh for Whedon's sake... there's only two movies in that collection. (I've decided to mentally block everything after the first two.)

Best Action Sequence: River fighting the reavers. Hands down. That's probably the obsessive geek in me talking, but I don't care. I had tears in my eyes for cryin' out loud.

Best Line in a Movie: Lucas doesn't even deserve consideration there. If Star Wars wins that one it'll open a quantum singularity and destroy all life as we know it in the 'verse. So let's kick that out and insert any random line from Serenity. Anything at all.

Okay, that went on way too long. Sorry
This must be why I don't generally pay much attention to awards... I should count my lucky stars I get to vote for Serenity and Nathan... :P

Well... when Anakin says, "I shouldn't have killed an un-armed man." right after cutting off both of Dooku's hands, I laughed. ;)

Which line from Serenity would you all have put in there? I can't choose...

"Always be yourself. Unless you suck." Joss Whedon

I think the best line in Serenity is when Jayne says:

"Shepard Book once told me, can't do something smart, do something right".

or

"Define Interesting..."
"Oh god oh god, we're all gonna die"?

it's two lines, i know, i know.

"I aim to misbehave."
"Can't do something smart, do something right".

HOMER: "Oh Lisa, you and your stories; Bart is a vampire, beer kills brain cells. Now lets go back to that... building thingy... where our beds and T.V.... is".

Well, I got all sorts of favorite lines from there, but the one that gets me every time is Mal's "Remember: if anything happens to me, or you don't hear from me within the hour... you take this ship and you come rescue me."
