Hey all

I was just wondering if any of you guys here watch THE OFFICE on NBC?

I have to admit, I was really apprehensive about this show to begin with. COUPLING left a really sour taste in my mouth after the prologue (that's how bad it was), and so the idea of turning probably the biggest British comedy since MONTY PYTHON'S FLYING CIRCUS into an American series. And the first few ep's I found to be a bit lackluster. But the second season I think, shows a huge jump in quality. It's managed to retain what was great about the British version, but give it's own distinct spin so that it's its own show and not in the shadow of the original. I've downloaded pretty much all the eps of it and watch specific moments on a regular basis.

One thing I dig is that with this show, the cast has moved beyond the main five and spends time developing the other office workers as well to give them their own distinct identity and the humor that lies in them ("Hi, I'm Meredith and I'm an al- good at supplier relations.)

My fave character on the show is obviously Dwight. He's such a nerd, suck-up and jerk, but you can't help but like him. And his "relationship" with Angela is actually my favorite pairing. Of course it's great seeing the unrequited love of Jim and Pam, but there's something a little more satisfying in Dwight and Angela's silent dance. Pam and Jim are the obvious cute couple, but Dwight and Angela are normally the stock antagonist characters. These are not romantic people at all. So for them to exchange these quiet moments of connection between these two people whom relationships with the opposite sex are nearly impossible is pleasing, even though the idea of them having sex would send chills up your spine.

They may not look it, but they're the Simon and Kaylee, whereas Jim and Pam are Mal and Inara.

I loved the lastest episode, "Valentines Day". Seeing Phyllis getting this barrage of flowers and gifts is almost as funny as Michael's little presentation video complete with U2 music. I was laughing so hard when that came on.

So any Office fan's here?

I loved on the episode where Michael had to get new floor in his office and they raided accounting and she just gave Dwight that look and he was like "Oh crap I better not do anything bad." and he just drops the stapler on the ground.

Yeah, I'm a big fan of The Office, too. Definitely agree that the second season is better. I started watching the show because it came on after My Name is Earl (which I find hilarious), but now I'm watching Earl because it's on before The Office. Weird how things like that work out.

as someone from UK who has seen US version the UK is a lot better, so i would definatly check it out

Dude, I'm totally into The Office. I thought at first there's no way the show could be even 50% as good as the brit version, but I have to say I love it with a passion and to me it's even better than the brits.

I've been wondering about that show. I've never seen the British version, nor ever heard of the show in general until it came to itunes, but I've been hearing good things about it from people on the internet. I'll download one episode to see if I like it.

Another funny show I never thought I would like is Fat Actress with Kristy Alley. Its SO funny!

If you want to start at the beginning, go ahead. But I would recommend actually starting with the second season first. The holiday themed episodes I find really great. "The Client" and "Performace Reviews" set up one of the overall plot lines of the season of Michael and his boss Jan. "Foot Injury" has Dwight at his best. And "Boys and Girls" has one of the best serious moment/comedy moment juxtapositions in the series.

Both versions are great. The US show is one of the best comedies on television. I saw it before the UK version, and was impressed by its originality (fully aware it was a copy) and wit.

I kept hearing about the UK original, and I eventually got it. There's no doubt that it is something special and unique in television history - a short run, half hour comedy shot and written unlike any other show, ever.

Definitely see the UK version - you'll be glad you did. Then enjoy the US version too - a little different, but still funny as hell.

I'm a big fan...haven't had the opportunity to see many of the recent episodes lately, though :(

the office and my name is earl are two of the only 4 shows on tv right now that i watch.
